Kirkton Church

Kirkton Church This is the official page for Kirkton Church in Carluke. A Place for All
Welcome to Kirkton. You’ll find our church buildings on Station Road.

We’re a Church of Scotland congregation in the South Lanarkshire town of Carluke. We’re just ordinary people—all ages—from many different backgrounds. With God’s help we’re aiming to be a place where everyone can find a sense of belonging, where we can bring our doubts and questions as well as our hopes and convictions, where we can find hope and encouragement in all the seasons of life. Above all

, together with the other churches in the town, we’re working on the challenge set by Jesus to Love God and to Love our Neighbours. In our worship we usually mix the contemporary with the traditional and we aim to be accessible to all. As well as Sunday Worship Services there are always lots of regular activities and special events going on in our church and halls throughout the week involving community and church groups. Find out about some of them here. Whether you live in the area or you’re just passing through come and see us …and find a place to belong.

This is a day of beginnings: a time to seek God’s presence, to dream together about what He is building, here within Carluke & Law Church.

Come as you are.

Bring your hopes, your questions, and your prayers.

Whether you have been in church your whole life or you are simply curious, there is a place for you here - in a 𝗖𝗛𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗛𝗢𝗣𝗘!

Let’s start this year, and this church, in worship, gratitude, and expectation for all God will do.

We hope your day has been full of light!

Merry Christmas!

For you, for Christmas, with deep thankfulness and fierce hope.

SAY THE LIGHT

Say the night
was long.

Say the angels
kept vigil,
and the creatures;
that the stars stood still
in their course.

Say even the shadows
held their breath,
stretched toward what
they could not see,
lending it their hiddenness
to shelter it from view.

Say at the darkest hour
the day broke
into astonished wonder,
that it arrived first
as song,
then as flesh,
then as love
radiant in its joy.

Say the light lives.

Say it will never spend itself,
that it is stubborn,
that it endures.

Say the light
is what we hold
for each other,
carrying it in the marrow,
the hollow of the heart
that splinters open in hope
to illumine
every shattered thing.
