TODAY WE CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS

WHAT WAS MEANT TO KILL BECAME A SIGN OF LIFE.

In the wilderness, the Israelites were dying from the bites of serpents. God commanded Moses to raise a bronze serpent, and those who looked upon it were healed.

Centuries later, Jesus explained its deeper meaning:

“Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up.”

The Cross was an instrument of ex*****on, humiliation and death. Yet what the world saw as defeat, God transformed into the place of salvation.

Christ did not come because humanity was good enough to deserve Him. He came because God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.

The Cross reveals both the depth of our wound and the immeasurable depth of God’s love.

The world saw a condemned man nailed to wood.

God gave the world its Saviour.

And so the instrument of death became the sign of life.

O Crux, ave, spes unica.
Hail, O Cross, our only hope.

Prayer in honor of Mary's Nativity.
Vouchsafe that I may praise thee, O sacred Virgin; give me strength against thine enemies, and against the enemy of the whole human race. Give me strength humbly to pray to thee. Give me strength to praise thee in prayer with all my powers, through the merits of thy most sacred nativity, which for the entire Christian world was a birth of joy, the hope and solace of its life.

When thou wast born, O most holy Virgin, then was the world made light.
Happy is thy stock, holy thy root, and blessed thy fruit, for thou alone as a virgin, filled with the Holy Spirit, didst merit to conceive thy God, as a virgin to bear Thy God, as a virgin to bring Him forth, and after His birth to remain a virgin.
Have mercy therefore upon me a sinner, and give me aid, O Lady, so that just as thy nativity, glorious from the seed of Abraham, sprung from the tribe of Juda, illustrious from the stock of David, didst announce joy to the entire world, so may it fill me with true joy and cleanse me from every sin.
Pray for me, O Virgin most prudent, that the gladsome joys of thy most helpful nativity may put a cloak over all my sins.
O holy Mother of God, flowering as the lily, pray to thy sweet Son for me, a wretched sinner. Amen.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary ✨

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — the mystery of our faith that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.

The Church sees in Mary the fulfilment of the hope promised to all who belong to Christ. She is the first among Christ’s redeemed to share fully in the glory of the Resurrection. What God has accomplished in her is also a sign of what He promises to us.

The words of the Book of Revelation beautifully reveal this mystery:

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”
— Revelation 12:1

Mary is the Woman clothed with the sun, radiant with the grace of God; crowned with twelve stars, she is a sign of the People of God and the Mother of the Messiah. In her, heaven and earth meet, and the victory of Christ shines forth.

Her Assumption is not simply the end of Mary’s earthly journey — it is a triumph of grace, a sign of the victory of Christ over sin and death, and a promise of our own resurrection.

Today we look to Mary, assumed into heaven, and rejoice with the angels and saints. She is our Mother, our Queen, and a sure sign of hope for the Church on her journey towards heaven.

“Mary, assumed into Heaven, pray for us and lead us closer to your Son.” 🌹👑

Queen of Heaven, pray for us.

The Holy Sleep of the Mother of God.
Anticipating the great feast of the Assumption of the Mother of God on the fifteenth of August, today, the thirteenth, we celebrate her earthly departure, known traditionally as her “Dormition.” Dormition is derived from Latin, simply meaning “sleep.”
In several places throughout Holy Scripture, death is referred to as a sleep. Jesus Himself spoke of the death of His friend Lazarus as a sleep: “Lazarus our friend sleepeth; but I go that I may awake him out of sleep” (John 11:11). When He went to the home of Jairus to cure his daughter, Our Lord told the mourners, “Weep not; the maid is not dead, but sleepeth” (Luke 8:52). Saint Paul, likewise, in his First Letter to the Thessalonians wrote of those “who sleep in death” and have “fallen asleep” who await the resurrection of the dead.
Interestingly, the English word “cemetery” originates from the Greek word koimeterion, which literally translates to a “sleeping place.”
This scriptural context raises a profound question: Was Our Lady merely “sleeping” the moment before she was resurrected and assumed body and soul into heaven, or had she actually died?
Because our Blessed Mother was conceived without original sin, she was inherently exempt from the penalty of death, which is the consequence of that sin. This does not mean her body was immortal by physical nature, but it would have been by singular divine privilege. Jesus Christ was completely without sin; nevertheless, to redeem and save humanity, He suffered and died because such was the will of the Father. Mary is not God, nor is she our Savior, but as our Co-Redemptrix, she chose to experience death. She did this to be one with us as our Mother, and to perfectly participate in the death and burial of her Son. “And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed” (Luke 2:35).

Today, the Church celebrates the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This year, the feast is made even more meaningful as it coincides with the anniversary of the second apparition of Our Lady at Fatima on 13 June 1917.

On that day, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared again to the three shepherd children and revealed her Immaculate Heart as a refuge and the way that leads souls to God. She invited the world to prayer, conversion, reparation for sins, and devotion to her Immaculate Heart.

Mary’s words at Fatima remain deeply relevant today. In a world often marked by uncertainty, division, and suffering, her Immaculate Heart continues to point us towards her Son, Jesus Christ. Through the Rosary, acts of reparation, and a life rooted in faith, we answer her maternal call and entrust ourselves to her loving protection.

As we honour the Immaculate Heart of Mary today, let us remember her promise:

“My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Today the Church invites us to contemplate the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – a Heart overflowing with love, mercy, and compassion for every person.

In a world marked by anxiety, weariness, and suffering, Christ continues to call each of us with these comforting words:

“Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28–29)

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is the source of unfailing love. In Him we find forgiveness, peace, and hope. Every day, upon the altars of the world, Christ’s sacrifice is made present, and in the Holy Eucharist the Heart of Jesus continues to beat with love for humanity, pouring out grace and mercy upon all who come to Him.

May this beautiful feast inspire us to place our trust more deeply in the Lord, to bring Him our joys and sorrows, our struggles and hopes, and to rest in His loving Heart.

SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI

Tomorrow, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ — Corpus Christi.

On this sacred feast, we lift our eyes and hearts to the greatest gift Christ has left to His Church: the Holy Eucharist.

The Eucharist is not merely a symbol, nor only a memorial. It is the living Sacrifice of Christ, made present every day upon the altars of the world. From great cathedrals to humble chapels, the Holy Mass unites heaven and earth as the one Sacrifice of Calvary is offered for the salvation of mankind.

In the Eucharist beats the Heart of Jesus.

There, hidden beneath the humble appearances of bread and wine, is the same Lord who loved us unto death, who pours out His mercy upon sinners and His grace upon all who seek Him. The Eucharist is the inexhaustible source of divine love, mercy, strength, and hope. From this sacred fountain flows every blessing given to the Church and to the world.

Tomorrow, as we accompany Our Eucharistic King in procession, let us adore Him with reverence and gratitude. Let us proclaim with our lives what our hearts believe: that Jesus Christ is truly present among us, waiting to heal, strengthen, forgive, and love.

May every heart find its home in His Eucharistic Heart.

O Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, increase our faith, deepen our love, and draw us ever closer to You.

“Stay with us, Lord.”

JUNE – THE MONTH OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

In Catholic devotion, June is dedicated in a special way to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is not a sentimental or superficial devotion, but an invitation to enter into the mystery of Christ’s love — a love that is holy, sacrificial, patient, and reparative.

The Heart of Jesus reveals a love that did not shrink from the Cross. It is a Heart that is meek and humble, obedient to the Father, merciful toward the repentant, and burning with zeal for the salvation of souls. In it, we see that true love is not weakness, but a strength capable of self-sacrifice.

For this reason, devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus calls for a response. It is not enough to be moved by the image of His burning Heart. We must ask ourselves whether our own hearts have become cold, ungrateful, distracted, or too attached to the things that pass away.

June is an invitation to make reparation. To pray for our own indifference and that of others. To make more frequent acts of love. To examine our conscience. To renew our fidelity to Christ in our daily duties, our words, our decisions, and even in the hidden movements of our hearts.

May this month not pass us by as just another date on the calendar. Instead, may it become a time of returning to the Heart that first loved us and continues to call every soul to a greater love.

Today we celebrate Pentecost Sunday – the glorious feast of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. May the Holy Spirit fill our hearts with His gifts: wisdom, understanding, strength, peace, and love. Come, Holy Spirit, renew the face of the earth and guide us in our daily lives.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.”
