Celebrating The King’s Birthday – 13th June

Today we are celebrating The King’s Birthday and marking the occasion with plenty of patriotic spirit across our homes.

Our residents are enjoying a wonderful day of celebration, reminiscing about royal occasions through the years, sharing memories, and coming together to enjoy good company, music, refreshments, and activities fit for the occasion.

Royal celebrations often bring back special memories for many of our residents, from street parties and coronations to family gatherings and community events over the decades. It is always lovely to hear the stories and experiences shared together on days like today.

🎉🎂 What a fabulous Friday!

Today we celebrated a wonderful 80th birthday and enjoyed an uplifting session with Music for Health — double the joy, double the smiles! 💛🎶

✨ We shook our pom poms, rattled our bells, sang our hearts out, and even conducted our very own orchestra together! 🎺🥁🎼
🧠 James’ music quiz got everyone thinking, laughing, and joining in — such a brilliant atmosphere!

🎂 After all that fun, we gathered to sing a big, warm Happy Birthday, followed by a delicious buffet lunch and some absolutely beautiful cakes that went down a treat 🍰😋

A day full of music, movement, celebration, and community — just how we like it 💛

“I Used To…” Day – 9th June

Today we are celebrating “I Used To…” Day — a wonderful opportunity to share memories, stories, skills, and experiences from years gone by.

Our residents have so many fascinating life stories to tell, from careers and hobbies to adventures, family traditions, and unforgettable moments. Days like today encourage conversation, laughter, and reflection as we look back on the things we “used to” do and the memories that helped shape our lives.

Whether it was:
🚲 “I used to ride my bike for miles…”
💃 “I used to dance every weekend…”
🍰 “I used to bake for the whole family…”
🚜 “I used to work on the farms…”

Every story matters and every memory is worth sharing.

Football‑Themed Colouring at Greenlane ⚽🎨😁

With the FIFA World Cup on the way, we got into the spirit today with some brilliant football‑themed colouring ⚽🖍️✨

We picked out some lovely pictures to bring to life, and there was lots of chatter and laughter 😄💬
Stories flowed about playing football as kids, kicking a ball around at school, and the memories that came with it 🏫⚽💭

We admired our masterpieces together — the colours, the detail, and of course had a giggle at our hand‑eye coordination 😂👏

Today, we’d love to shine a light on a truly lovely act of kindness.

Chippy lunch, board games and a blooming courtyard garden 🌿🎲🐟💛

Today we spent some lovely time outside in our little courtyard garden 🌼🌱 It’s really starting to flourish now, and we enjoyed admiring the plants, chatting about vegetables and asking brilliant questions 🥕🍅 All of this while tucked under a brolly ☔️ The rain didn’t bother us one bit — in fact, we quite enjoyed feeling the gentle drizzle on our faces 😊

Back indoors, the board games came out! 🎲🧩 Dominos was a big hit as always, and our giant jigsaw is well underway — definitely a favourite at the moment 🤩

And to top it all off, in honour of Fish & Chip Day, we tucked into homemade fish and chips 🐟🍟 The batter was so crispy and absolutely beautiful 😍

National Fish & Chip Day – 6th June

Today we are celebrating one of Britain’s most loved traditions… Fish and Chips!

There is nothing quite like enjoying a delicious portion of crispy fish, golden chips, and all the classic favourites alongside good company and plenty of smiles. For many of our residents, fish and chips bring back wonderful memories of seaside trips, Friday night suppers, and family meals together.

Food has a wonderful way of connecting people, sparking conversations, and bringing comfort through familiar tastes and memories — and today is the perfect excuse to enjoy this timeless British classic.

Today we are celebrating the simple but meaningful joy of handwritten letters and sending post. In a world full of instant messages and emails, there is something truly special about receiving a handwritten note or card from someone you care about. 💌

Our residents have been enjoying writing letters, sharing memories, signing cards, and reminiscing about the days when keeping in touch meant pen, paper, and a trip to the post box. 🖊️📬

Handwriting can spark memories, encourage creativity, and provide a wonderful opportunity for connection and conversation. Whether it is a thoughtful letter, a postcard, or simply signing your name, every handwritten word carries a personal touch.

We’ve got a new sign… just in case anyone was struggling to find us! 😄

Our car park has had a bit of a glow-up recently, with a freshly resurfaced finish, newly painted parking bays, dedicated disabled parking, an ambulance bay, and of course, our shiny new sign taking pride of place.

A huge thank you to Pete at 360 Property Marketing for these fantastic aerial photos and for creating our fabulous virtual tour. He somehow manages to make us look even better than we think we do!

We’re incredibly proud of all the improvements we've made at Greenlane Care Home over the past year, and we're not stopping there. There are plenty more exciting enhancements still to come, so watch this space!
