It's LGBT History Month! A time to learn about the history of our q***r siblings and celebrate the heck out of them. So it's rather handy that we have an absolute shedload of events this month that we hope will do both those things! If you're a student or recent graduate we'd love for you to join us for any or all of them 🌈

All of the events will be taking place from 7-8pm on Zoom or Facebook Live. Check out Facebook.com/studentchristianmovement/events for more info on each of the events!

Happy !

February is LGBT History Month and we have some great things planned! From LGBT student panels, interviews with our LGBT Friends, and content from the Movement archives showing our journey as an ally to the q***r Christian community, we hope you'll find something of interest. Stay tuned for more info!

Since it hasn't been possible to do much physical fundraising this year due to.... *looks around* well, everything - we decided that we would do a little virtual whip-round for Cardiff food bank just in time for Christmas. I may be a little late posting it, but I'm happy and proud to say that we raised £80 for this brilliant charity just amongst ourselves! It just goes to show that even small groups of people can make a difference together. If you want to donate to Cardiff food bank, you can do so here: https://localgiving.org/charity/cardifffoodbank/

✝️ Bible verse of the week ✝️

Yesterday was the first Sunday in Advent, a season of expectation and preparation, so this week's verse is all about waiting for Jesus to return.

"Then they will see 'the Son of Man coming in clouds' with great power and glory. Then he will send out the angels, and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven."(Mark 13:26-27).

"But about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Beware, keep alert; for you do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33).

Hello friends. Many of you may have seen the video 'A Beautiful Story' from the Church of England Evangelical Council that restates their views on marriage and sexuality, and asks for no changes in the church.

In response we want to start a project called 'A More Beautiful Story' that seeks to share the stories of LGBT+ Christians and allies. We want to make a short video this week in response to what the CEEC have released and use that as a springboard for future content.

We're asking LGBTQ+ people and their allies to answer one or some of the following questions in a short 30 seconds voice note to be put together in a montage.

Please send your voice note by Friday evening to [email protected], or on FB to Louise Dover

1) Who are you? (feel free to leave this bit out if you’d rather stay anonymous)
2) What shapes your identity?
3) Why does the church need to talk about marriage? How does that make you feel?
4) What part does your faith play in your life?
5) What is something about your identity that you want those opposed to equal marriage to understand?
6) How can we shape the future of the Church as LGBTQ+ people and allies?
7) why do you believe what you believe?
8) What does loving and being loved look like to you?
