“The brothers and sisters of the Order of Preachers renew our unwavering commitment to the cause of peace. In a world torn by conflict and division, the Order will continue to labor for reconciliation led by Pope Leo XIV and to advance dialogue guided by the light of truth and the Gospel. Let us never tire of proclaiming the peace of the Risen Christ together.”

- fr. Gerard Francisco Timoner III
Master of the Order of Preachers

Join us this Lent for a series on the Psalms!

In Mass there is one book of the Bible that we read more than any other, and yet it is the one that is perhaps mentioned least from the pulpit. This is, of course, the Book of Psalms. These sacred songs form the basis of our liturgy, and are the living heartbeat of the Church’s prayer. Their powerful words cover almost every imaginable human emotion: from laments and dirges, and pleas for forgiveness, to hymns of praise and thanksgiving and jubilation. They are also deeply theological, and since the time of early Church have been read as a synthesis of God’s revelation.

In this series for Lent, Fr Richard will comment on each of the psalms chosen for the readings at Mass on the Sundays of Lent. You can register for the series on our webpage here: https://english.op.org/latest-news/journey-through-lent-with-the-psalms/

Members of the Senedd will soon vote on whether Wales should consent to Westminster's assisted su***de legislation.
Archbishop Mark warns: "Wales has always valued compassion, care, and the protection of the vulnerable. This Bill risks eroding those values. True compassion means accompanying people in their suffering, not ending their lives."

The Bill would put vulnerable people at risk of coercion, with inadequate protections and no opt-out for care homes and hospices.

Archbishop Mark urges: "I encourage everyone of goodwill to make their voices heard — to urge Members of the Senedd to reject this Bill and to support better palliative care, so that every person in Wales can live their final days surrounded by love, not despair."

We have two new saints! ✨🤩✨

From the homily of Pope Leo XIV at the Mass of Canonisation in St Peter’s Square this morning:

“Even when illness struck them and cut short their young lives, not even this stopped them nor prevented them from loving, offering themselves to God, blessing him and praying to him for themselves and for everyone. One day Pier Giorgio said: “The day of my death will be the most beautiful day of my life” (Irene Funghi, I giovani assieme a Frassati: un compagno nei nostri cammini tortuosi: Avvenire, 2 agosto 2025). In his last photo, which shows him climbing a mountain in the Val di Lanzo, with his face turned towards his goal, he wrote: “Upwards” (Ibid). Moreover, Carlo, who was even younger than Pier Giorgio, loved to say that heaven has always been waiting for us, and that to love tomorrow is to give the best of our fruit today.

“Dear friends, Saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis are an invitation to all of us, especially young people, not to squander our lives, but to direct them upwards and make them masterpieces. They encourage us with their words: “Not I, but God,” as Carlo used to say. And Pier Giorgio: “If you have God at the center of all your actions, then you will reach the end.” This is the simple but winning formula of their holiness. It is also the type of witness we are called to follow, in order to enjoy life to the full and meet the Lord in the feast of heaven.”

Saints Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis, Pray for us! 🙏🤩🙏
