Hope on the High Street is taking shape!

Rivertown URC, Shotton has begun an exciting transformation, creating a flexible church and community space to better serve the local community.

While the congregation worships in a temporary home, Elder Steve Winrow reflects on faith, resilience and mission in his moving poem, 10,000 Staples.

10 Years of Eco Church - celebrating a decade of putting care for God's earth into action

Launched by A Rocha UK in 2016, Eco Church supports churches in England and Wales to care for creation across every part of church life - from worship and teaching to buildings, land, community engagement and everyday lifestyle choices.

A report has been commissioned to look at the impact of Eco Church over the last ten years. It celebrates what has been achieved so far, considers lessons learnt, and looks ahead to the next stages of the journey.

Five case studies are featured, one from each survey category, to share practical examples of how Eco Churches are taking action.

Join the national celebration of Wales' built heritage.

Open Doors is the annual heritage festival organised by Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service. During September, historic sites across Wales will offer free entry, events and guided tours. Churches and chapels are very welcome to join the festival and it’s a great opportunity for welcoming people into your building.

Julie Davies, Church Secretary and Elder at Tyddyn Street Church, Mold, attended the United Reformed Church General Assembly for the first time this July as part of the Wales delegation.
Although initially apprehensive, Julie found the experience welcoming, inspiring and filled with fellowship. From thoughtful discussions and prayerful decision-making to worship, Bible study and the enthusiastic involvement of young people, the gathering left her feeling hopeful about the future of the Church.

Julie said: “It was a wonderful few days—busy, demanding and requiring plenty of concentration—but above all, it was filled with hope.”

She encourages elders, lay preachers, worship leaders and others involved in ministry to consider experiencing General Assembly for themselves.

This year’s URC Holiday Club materials from the Children, Youth and Intergenerational team (CYI) are available at https://urc.org.uk/your-faith/children-young-people/children-youth-work/holiday-club-materials/ -263476.

With the theme Wisdom Quest, these are free, downloadable resources for those running holiday clubs for children aged 5–11. (Plus appendices for intergenerational, toddlers, 11–14s and vintage holiday clubs.)

Grants
The Children, Youth and Intergenerational committee supports churches in running holiday clubs by offering a grant of either £50 or £100 towards the costs of resources, snacks, decorations, equipment etc.
