Joint Lobby Registration: Defend our Right to Protest, Tuesday 17 March 2026
On Tuesday 17 March 2026 there will be a mass lobby of parliament to defend our right to protest, jointly organised by civil society organisations including Amnesty International UK, Greenpeace, Liberty, Quakers in Britain, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, and many trade unions. The Government has introduced an extreme proposal to give police new powers to restrict protests based on their so-called ‘cumulative disruption’. If this becomes law, the police in England and Wales will be required to consider any past protests or planned future protests in the same ‘area’ when deciding whether to impose restrictions.
Although government statements make clear these powers have been brought forward in response to the mass national marches for Palestinian rights, the impact of this change of law would be wide-ranging, impacting other campaigns for peace, climate justice, human rights and more. An anti-racist march could be blocked from Whitehall because of a previous farmers’ protest, or a pride march restricted because a far-right demonstration was recently held in the same town.
The right to protest must be defended. Please join us if you can. We urgently need to mobilise as much pressure as possible for MPs to call on the British government to immediately drop its dangerous proposal and repeal the succession of anti-protest laws on which it builds.
Anyone can join the lobby, you just need to be available to come to Parliament on the day. You will be guided through the whole process from registration to meeting with your MP. This includes receiving a briefing pack with logistical information about getting into Parliament, guidance on what to say to your MP, and background notes about the Government's attack on your right to protest.

A Million Acts of Hope
Watching the news or looking at your social media feed, it’s easy to believe that the UK is more divided than ever. The voices of those who seek to spread hate, harm our communities and separate us are loud.
But the reality is millions of people across the UK show up for each other, their neighbours and their communities every single day. From litter picking in parks to donating stuff to food banks, coaching our kids’ football teams to working together to make our streets safer - acts of hope and kindness happen all the time.
These stories are too often left untold. So, in May 2026, community and faith groups, plus charities big and small, will come together to celebrate and inspire A Million Acts of Hope across Britain. There is far more that connects us than divides us.

New Briefing Published to Help Churches Prepare for a Changed Senedd Election
Cytûn has published a new bilingual briefing to help churches, member bodies and the wider faith community understand and engage with the significant changes to the 2026 Senedd Cymru election.
The 2026 election will be unlike any Wales has seen before. The Senedd is expanding from 60 to 96 Members, the familiar mix of constituency and regional seats is being replaced by 16 new, larger constituencies, and voters will cast a single vote under a new proportional representation system.
The briefing, available in both English and Welsh, sets out clearly what is changing, how the new voting system works, and what to expect at the polling station. It also offers practical guidance for churches wishing to support democratic engagement in their communities — from hosting hustings events and encouraging voter registration to engaging with candidates on issues that matter locally.
The briefing is part of Cytûn’s ongoing commitment to supporting informed and prayerful engagement with Welsh democracy. With the election approaching on 7 May, it is important that faith communities are equipped to help their members and neighbours participate confidently in this new process.
The briefing can be downloaded from the Cytûn website in English and Welsh.
