Matthew 19:14 (ESV)
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.”
Such a simple verse but packed with great significance.
In verse 5 of Gen 1, it says “God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day.”
Here, the word “night” in Hebrew eludes to the evil inclination (darkness) and the word “day” in Hebrew eludes to the good inclination (light).
The actual timeline of day and night was created later on.
Both, good and evil inclinations existed in the Garden of Eden - having 2 separate voices.
Notice how the name of God is mentioned in Gen 1:5 near the words “light” and “day” but is not mentioned next to the words “darkness” and “night”? Because the good inclination was the voice of God and the evil inclination was the voice of the snake; God’s name does not appear in the Torah in the vicinity of darkness.
When God spoke to Adam in the Garden, He was giving the fruits of His voice to sustain Adam’s life. Adam and Eve’s obedience to the word of God sustained them with life.
The evil inclination was outside Adam’s body- Adam was in God’s likeness, he was good.
When Adam and Eve listened to the voice of the serpent and obeyed the serpent, they ate from the fruits of his words and internalised the evil inclination.
The seeds of the fruit of the evil inclination became part of their DNA.
And so the evil inclination imbedded itself so deep into Adam that it started to control him; it took Adam’s self control. It created untrue realities in Adam’s subconscious. It created lies about himself, the world around him and about God. Adam was now afraid of God.
Through Adam’s seed, humanity inherited the evil inclination into the blood line.
By now you might be lost, offended or not interested... but read a bit more.
So how can humanity overcome the corrupted DNA passed on from Adam? How can we win against an evil voice that has woven itself into our subconscious - making us without self control, manipulating us, creating untruth and making us weak and fearful?
ONLY WITH THE HELP OF JESUS!
A child is born from the seed of Adam and is unruly and without the power to control itself. The evil inclination is woven into the child’s corrupted DNA, so the child has no self control. He will live a life ruled by instincts , thoughts and ideas implemented by his environment. The child will know what is good and evil according to what he’s told by other corrupted DNA’s (consciously and subconsciously). This will continue until he desires to know the TRUTH.
When he turns to God, everything changes!!!! The DNA changes and the evil inclination has no power over the man.
The light of the day comes when the darkness of the night has passed. That is why Gen 1:5 say “it was evening and it was morning”... because first we are born blind in the darkness and then we begin to see the light of the day.
Jesus Christ, shares His spotless blood / DNA with the one who turns to Him.
Remember in Psalms 92:15 and Luke 23:4 - it says, they could find no evil (inclination) in Jesus. He is completely righteous!
There is no power in this world, no meditation, no diet, no peace, no yoga classes that can set us free from something that is imbedded in a corrupted DNA. Humanity needs a Holy dialyses!
When one turns to God, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Cor 3:16)
Now we can feast again on the words (fruits) of God to overcome that which seemed to be impossible before. We have the freedom to live a life sustained by the voice of God and evil has no authority over it.
This is the reason why Jesus is asking for the children to come to Him. He wants the unruly ones, the ones that feel without a hope, the ones that feel controlled, manipulated and lied to. He wants the people who only God can love!
He wants to set them free, clothe them with righteousness and give them what it rightfully theirs: the heavens. “For TO SUCH BELONGS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. “
And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man (Adam) so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man (Jesus). (1 Cor 15:49)
