Sixty years ago this 21 October, Aberfan lost 116 children and 28 adults when a colliery tip collapsed onto Pantglas Junior School. It remains one of the darkest mornings South Wales has known - and one that touched families right across the region, including many here in Cathays.
The village has carried that morning with great dignity ever since. The school site is now a memorial garden, and every year, on 21 October, Aberfan gathers quietly to remember - a tradition that will mean even more on this, the 60th anniversary.
Mae cariad yn para - love endures. Today, Cathays remembers Aberfan, and the 116 children and 28 adults who never came home.
