"As a convert I have been blessed to see two sides of the world in which we live and the trials and blessings that are encountered by those both inside and outside of the fold.
Living my life both in and of the world until I was 19 years of age, engaging in activities and practices contrary to the standards of righteousness, on reflection was a blessing for me.
The experiences I had as a non-member, my conversion, which was systematic and gradual, and the strength I have gained since entering the narrow gate has allowed me to display greater empathy to those in crisis both in a professional and ecclesiastical setting.
As a police officer I have been led by the spirit many times and have been blessed to provide hope to those in despair, to be led by the spirit to speak kind words to the downhearted and to lighten their burdens.
As a brother to those in the Church I have been able to relate to and support members struggling with temptations of temporal experiences and enticements.
I count my blessings daily that the Lord has given me experiences, that I would not have chosen to endure myself, to provide opportunities for me to grow personally and then share those experiences with others.
Through a Gospel lens I have been able to view my trials as experiences where I have felt the lift of Christ's grace and love and not felt left to endure them alone.
It is my testimony that as faithful members of the restored Church we are not immune to the woes of life. However as we remain in the world but not of it, placing our trust in the Lord and building upon His sure foundation we will be empowered and enabled to withstand all the fiery darts of the adversary. As we share that truth and our experiences with others, supporting them in whatever way we can, they may to find joy."
