Canterbury Mosque This is the Canterbury Muslim Cultural Centre (CMCC) and Canterbury Mosque Only page. The activities in the mosque and community engagement have improved.

Canterbury Mosque was established in 1997 and the community has grown ever since. We offer many services such as :

Providing social, cultural and faith-based needs to the Muslim community. Providing social and cultural contacts for the students and the visitors from home and abroad. Holding the daily prayers and the Friday Service for men, women and children. Providing a Saturday school and Arabi

c language classes to the children and teenagers at the university campus. Co-ordinating advice and support to the Local Police Force, the City Council, the Prison Services, the Local Hospitals, the University of Kent, Cadma, Candifa and other statutory and voluntary bodies. Encouraging the social inclusion by bringing the Muslim community in contact with the wider community. Giving advice and providing support to the bereaved families, to hold prayer and to arrange the burial, with the help of Imam and the committee. Generating funds only from donations and charitable events and only use for peaceful purposes. We are currently extending the building at the mosque, which is obviously very costly, and therefore any donations from the Islamic community would be gratefully appreciated

Visit my Mosque Day 📣📣📣

Assalamu Alaicom wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Dear brothers and sisters,

We are pleased to announce that our masjid will be taking part in the Visit My Mosque initiative, organised in partnership with the Muslim Council of Britain.

This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome our neighbours, answer their questions, and share the beauty of Islam in a friendly and welcoming environment. 😊

Date: Saturday, 19th September
Time: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

To make this event a success, we are looking for volunteers to help on the day. There are many ways you can contribute, including:

* Welcoming visitors.
* Guiding guests around the mosque.
* Answering basic questions about Islam (training will be provided).
* Assisting with refreshments and general organisation.
* Helping with setup and tidy-up.

No previous experience is necessary.

We will provide guidance and training so that everyone feels confident in their role.

The Prophet Muhammad pbuh said:

« بلغوا عني ولو آية »

“Convey from me, even if it is only one verse.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

If you are able to volunteer, even for a few hours, we would be grateful for your support.
Your time and effort can make a lasting positive impression on our visitors.

At the beginning of the summer, I had a valuable discussion with local faith and community leaders about community cohesion, race and religion.

There was a shared concern that public debate has become increasingly divisive, with rhetoric that can too often fuel mistrust and deepen divisions between communities. We discussed the importance of challenging misinformation, speaking truthfully and respectfully and ensuring that faith is never used as a tool to exclude or label others.

One of the strongest messages from the meeting was the need to build positive relationships across communities and have the confidence to call out intolerance wherever it appears.

Our faith groups, community organisations and residents have a vital role to play in bringing people together, not pushing them apart. By listening to one another, showing compassion and focusing on our shared values, we can build stronger and more united communities.

I look forward to continuing these conversations through regular meetings in the months ahead.

Giving food to those who is need is an Islamic virtue.

Even the name of the Surah is Al Insaan, which is translated to (The Human being)
