Unfortunately there has been another incident of anti-social behaviour in the church and yet another theft targeting a nearby church. The clergy and churchwardens are working very closely with the police and will continue to do so but it may be necessary, at certain times, to close the church for a short while on occasions during the coming weeks. This will obviously be kept to a necessary minimum as our policy remains ensuring the church is kept open for all and for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, we are very grateful for the strong support we are receiving from villagers and the advice we have from the police for members of the public reporting anything untoward is to ring 101.

Thank you!

A message from James, our churchwarden:

Some of you may be aware that this week we have had two incidents of theft and one of criminal damage in the Church. The immediate impact of the thefts was that we could not use our sound system at a Christening, impacting on what should be a beautiful and important event for the family.

The police have been very helpful and their investigations continue. We need to implement further precautionary measures to try and prevent further incidents and have therefore taken the very difficult decision to close the Church with the current intention of re-opening on Tuesday morning. This was not an easy decision to make as we want the parish church to remain at the centre of our community and village life. We know that those in our parish, and indeed visitors, truly appreciate being able to visit the Church and enjoy it as a peace of peace and quietness.

We would also ask for your help by keeping an eye on the Church and if you see anything that appears wrong please let us know. (No service has been cancelled as this morning's Benefice service (5th Sunday in month) is at Goodnestone).

Many thanks.
