The District Festival of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament (Cb Sacrament) took place at St Mary's Church, Stamford today. Fr Richard was privileged to assist with the liturgy. The Sung Mass was celebrated by Canon Andrew Greany SSC. In his homily the preacher, Canon Robert Mackley, Vicar of Little St Mary's Cambridge, traced the significance of blood in the sacrificial systems of the old covenant, and reflected on the power of the Blood of the Lord in which Christians partake sacramentally, uniting themselves with Christ's perfect sacrifice to the Father. Later in the day, Vespers and Benediction were celebrated. The CBS is a fellowship of prayer and witness, working for a greater devotion to Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

We meet at 10.15am opposite the Mill Pub to make our triumphal palm procession into church. We’re delighted that The Revd Dr Matthew Bullimore, Chaplain of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, is our preacher throughout Holy Week.

Delighted to be hosting this on Saturday. All welcome!

The District Festival of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament (Cb Sacrament) takes place this coming Saturday, 14 September, at Little St Mary's Church, Cambridge. Mass for Holy Cross Day will be sung at 12 noon (with our Rector Fr Richard preaching), and a buffet lunch follows. Vespers & Benediction at 2.30pm concludes the Festival. Everyone is welcome, members and non-members alike. The CBS is the oldest devotional society for both clergy and laity in The Church of England, founded in 1862 to encourage devout and frequent celebration and reception of the Holy Eucharist. A local ward of the CBS, dedicated in honour of the Holy Rood, was established at St John’s Timberhill in 1884 as one of the fruits of the first parochial mission preached here.
