Cambridge Street Pastors Street Pastors out in the City Centre every Saturday from 10pm to help, listen and care for people We really approve of people having a good time!

Many people go out to enjoy themselves in the pubs and clubs in Cambridge city centre, often till 4am or later, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. But unfortunately late night drinking can be taken to excess and this leads to a number of problems. People can be victims of crime, become detached from friends, have
difficulty getting home, suffer from over-indulgence. Christians in
Cambridge

wanted to respond to these situations and in common with many other towns and cities set up a Street Pastors scheme. Street Pastors are specially trained volunteers (wearing the distinctive Street Pastors
clothing) from local churches that patrol the streets from 10pm to 4am
offering practical help and support to any in need, listening to concerns
and providing a reassuring presence. It is an opportunity for the church to
go out to meet people where they are, declaring the love of God in practical action. With encouragement from police and local government officials, a group of Cambridge church leaders launched Cambridge Street Pastors on Friday 27th March 2009. We are now a group of about 40 volunteers of whom 4 are on patrol on any one Friday or Saturday, supported by an active group of Trustees and two part-time workers.

Help support a vibrant Christian ministry serving the night-time community in Cambridge.

We’re looking for a committed Christian with great communication, organisation, and IT skills to help keep our volunteer teams running smoothly. You’ll manage volunteer admin, coordinate patrol rotas, support NightLite, handle weekly comms, and keep our ministry connected with churches, partners and the local community.

🕒 Up to 8 hours/week
💷 £15/hour
🏡 Home-based (with visits to our Cambridge base)

Great news for rough sleepers in Cambridge 👍

We have activated the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) from 2 January until 8 January.

All rough sleepers will be offered accommodation regardless of recourse to public funds. We will be working jointly with the Street Outreach Team to fulfil accommodation needs.

Cambridge is a Purple Flag City, which is an award that recognises locations that put measures in place to support the safe management after dark (5pm – 5am). We encourage people to go out and have fun but to be cautious, always ensure you have battery in your phone, stay together and look after your friends.

This is a very special weekend for the church ⛪️ and to all of our teams, as we reflect on what JESUS did for us on the Cross ✝️. That GOD so loved ❤️ the world, that HE gave HIS only begotten Son. HE truly showed us the true meaning of love, as we strive to carry out GOD’s mission to Care, Listen and Help 🥰 people within our communities. We will be available to ALL showing non judgmental support and service. Thank you to all who are patrolling this weekend as a Street, Rail, School or Prayer Pastor.
