Cambridge Central Mosque is the first purpose-built mosque in Cambridge, UK and opened in the Spring of 2019. The facility is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of the city’s estimated six thousand Muslims, including many visiting students, but also serves as a cultural bridge fostering greater understanding between communities. It has a strong educational component, providing an infrastructure and support for learning and research. Reflecting Islam’s contribution to contemporary debates over sustainability, the Mosque incorporates significant design features that minimise carbon emission and emphasise the role of faith in promoting responsible management of the earth’s resources.

This Friday: Science of Recitation talk followed by a Community Qu'ran Khatam

The Qur'an is a preserved revelation, but it is not just the message that is preserved. The transmission is preserved with immense care, such that it is a science in and of itself.

Join us as we discuss the transmission of the Qur'an and the importance of correct recitation and memorisation.

There will be demonstrations of common mistakes in recitation and how they should be corrected, followed by a community Qur'an Khatm during which you can read as much or as little as you can.

During the evening we will also be opening applications for the Mosque's new Adult Tilawat Course, for those who want to improve the correctness of their recitation.

Both brothers and sisters are encouraged to attend.
