Cambridge Central Mosque is the first purpose-built mosque in Cambridge, UK and opened in the Spring of 2019. The facility is dedicated to the spiritual and social welfare of the city’s estimated six thousand Muslims, including many visiting students, but also serves as a cultural bridge fostering greater understanding between communities. It has a strong educational component, providing an infras

tructure and support for learning and research. Reflecting Islam’s contribution to contemporary debates over sustainability, the Mosque incorporates significant design features that minimise carbon emission and emphasise the role of faith in promoting responsible management of the earth’s resources.

“Allāhu Akbar” is more than a phrase.

Allah is greater than our worries, our struggles, our fears, our desires, and every challenge we face.

A powerful reminder from our Eid al-Adha khutbah, reflecting on the example of Prophet Ibrahim ʿalayhi al-salām and what it means to put Allah above all else. 💛

Join Imam Sejad Mekić for the first talk in a new series of talks exploring the Islamic tradition of khidmah (service), beginning with one of Cambridge Central Mosque's core values: Serve & Benefit.

Through reflections from the Qur'an, Sunnah, and the lives of the righteous, we will explore how service transforms both our communities and our own hearts.

Light moves differently in a mosque. 🌿

A quiet reminder that beauty in our tradition was never just decorative – it was designed to draw the heart back to Allah. Geometry, light, shadow and space all working together to create stillness.

“And Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.”
– Qur’an 24:35 💛
