ForcesWatch is with Pax Christi England and Wales and 10 others

WE NEED YOUR HELP. THIS IMPACTS ALL OF US.
There is growing discussion around the possible return of military conscription or compulsory national service in the UK. Conscription would remove choice from young people at a critical stage of their lives and place them into military service against their will.
We call on the UK government to:
Rule out any future conscription, mandatory national service, or registration in the UK
Protect the rights of conscientious objectors who refuse military service

From Pax Christi:

At his Vigil for Peace in Rome on Saturday, Pope Leo delivered a powerful homily, described by our National Chaplain, Sr Katrina Alton as a 'prophetic intervention' and a challenge not just to world leaders but to all of us:

'The challenge, then, is unmistakable. If prayer forms us, it must also send us. Nonviolence is not an abstract ideal but a disciplined practice: refusing the language of enemies, resisting the seductions of power, confronting injustice and violence without mirroring its logic. In a world enthralled by domination, Pope Leo dares to name another possibility, not as aspiration, but as obligation. Peace is not someone else’s task, it is ours, enacted here and now through the risky, concrete work of peace-making and reconciliation'.
