We love a celebration. Therefore it was a special delight to mark the 90th birthdays this coming week of two gentlemen in our congregation, not related to each other but born on exactly the same day. In honour of this occasion, our hymn board had an extra number added to it for the service. Happy Birthday to them both.

Willingham Action Group has set up a Willingham Community Larder in the church porch to help support local residents.

How does it work?
It’s simple — if you’re able to, you can donate non-perishable food items by placing them in the box. If you or someone you know needs a few essentials, please feel free to take what you need.

This coming Sunday is Trinity Sunday and there will be no service in our church. We are gathering together with other churches in our group for one service in St Mary's Church, Over at 11.00am, led by our two priests, Revd Stephen and Fr Ed. All are invited, so do come along if you'd like to.

It was lovely to welcome Ven Dr Alex Hughes, Archdeacon of Cambridge, to our church yesterday as we marked the Feast of Pentecost (pictured below with Fr Ed, our priest). Whilst with us, he re-dedicated the newly refurbished Octagon Hall for its use as a place of welcome for the whole community.

His text was as follows:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this hall and for all the lives that have been touched within its walls. We praise You for the fellowship shared here, for the service offered here, and for the faith that has been strengthened here through the years. Today we rededicate this place to Your glory and Your purpose. May this hall always be a place of welcome, kindness, encouragement, and peace. Let all who enter find friendship, hope, and the love of Christ.

Bless every meeting, every meal, every conversation, every act of worship, and every work of service that takes place here. Guide those who lead, strengthen those who serve, and inspire all who gather in this place to grow in faith and love. Protect this building and all who use it. May it continue to be a centre of community, compassion, and mission for generations to come.

We dedicate this hall anew in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

It's Pentecost Sunday tomorrow (24th May) sometimes said to mark the birth of the Christian Church. A warm invitation to join us at 11.00 am for Holy Communion (in the tradition language of the Book of Common Prayer) with Ven Dr Alex Hughes, Archdeacon of Cambridge as celebrant and preacher. This Sunday (24 May) is Pentecost - a major day in the Christian calendar. We are delighted that our service (at 11.00am) will be led by the Archdeacon of Cambridge, Ven Dr Alex Hughes and will be a service of Holy Communion. We have recently received the news that he is to be the next Bishop of Brixworth in the Diocese of Peterborough, so it's lovely that he can visit us before he leaves the Ely Diocese. Do join us if you can.

We are so pleased to be able to support the Willingham Memory Box Cafe at our church once a month, welcoming those with memory loss and those who care for them. It's therefore lovely to see Ely Cathedral (our diocesan cathedral) showing support for those living with dementia, by lighting blue the Octagon Tower at the cathedral tonight, at the start of Our thanks to them.

Our service tomorrow (17 May) will be Holy Communion at 11.00am. That will be followed by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting. Always an interesting time to reflect on the year just completed and look ahead to what is to come.

Tomorrow is Ascension Day (Thursday 14 May) - the day when Christians mark Jesus's return to be with God and leave behind his earthly ministry and life. We have one group service being held at All Saints' Church, Longstanton All are welcome. The service will last about one hour.
