Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Following the serious security incident at Manchester Central Mosque on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, during Taraweeh prayers — where an individual carrying weapons entered the building and was subsequently arrested — we wish to remind all worshippers across the mosques of Cambridge to remain vigilant and take sensible precautions during Taraweeh prayers and Iftar gatherings in this blessed month of Ramadan.
Alhamdulillah, no one was harmed in that incident, owing to the swift response of mosque volunteers and the police. However, it serves as an important reminder that all communities must prioritise safety and awareness.
🔎 Important Safety Reminders for All Worshippers:
* Arrive on time for prayers to minimise unnecessary movement in and out during Salah.
* Remain aware of your surroundings at all times.
* Where possible, avoid walking alone late at night — travel in groups.
* Ensure children are supervised at all times and not left unattended.
* If you notice any suspicious behaviour, unattended bags, or individuals acting unusually, report this immediately to mosque volunteers or organisers.
* Follow any guidance issued by mosque management regarding entry, exits, parking, or security arrangements.
We kindly ask everyone to cooperate fully with mosque volunteers and organisers, who are working diligently to ensure our masajid remain safe and welcoming spaces for all.
Vigilance does not mean fear — it reflects responsibility, unity, and care for one another.
May Allah (SWT) protect all our mosques in Cambridge, safeguard our communities, accept our `ibadaat, and grant us peace and security.
Please share this message with family and friends.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
