Benefact Trust awards generous grant to help save Treslothan Church.
‘Saving Treslothan Church. Saving heritage through pilgrimage, history & nature’ this project will increase the churches importance and connection with local history, pilgrimage and the surrounding nature and woodlands whilst saving the church from permanent closure.
The project will undertake essential repairs starting with the re-roofing of the main church and re-pointing. It will then address the ceiling, plasterwork and flooring. The final phase will overhaul the windows and other internal repairs. There will also be improvements with the introduction of a small kitchen area and information boards inside and outside celebrating the history and surrounding nature. This project will not only save the church from closure but will revitalise it as a community asset and protect the nature surrounding it.
Rev’d Rosheen Browning, Vicar and Chair of Treslothan PCC said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this support from The Benefact Trust. We are so grateful that funds such as this can be put to such good use and save our beautiful church in the woods from inevitable closure.”
Benefact Trust is one of the UK's largest grant-making charities and awarded more than £23 million to churches, charities and communities in 2020. Its funds come from its ownership of the Benefact Group.
