Evangelism update.
OPEN DOORS.
Divine Appointments in Cardiff
I've decided to call this post Open Doors. Because this week, the Lord didn't just open physical doors, He opened hearts.
As many of you know, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Lucy and I serve with the evangelism team for the Logos Hope Ship, sharing what's happening on board and, more importantly, sharing Jesus with the local community. We've loved being part of the door‑to‑door team with Jonathan Harris (Pastor Steve's brother) And this week, God gave us three beautiful divine appointments, each one a reminder that He goes ahead of us.
1. The cleaner.
On Wednesday, we hoped to knock the flats, but every building seemed impossible to access. Then we passed one block where a cleaner had the door slightly open while drying the floor.
We looked at each other, and instantly knew.
This wasn't a coincidence.
This was invitation. A God-incidence🙌
The cleaners name was Richard, and from the moment we spoke, we realised he was the one God had positioned there. We shared about the ship, about Jesus, prayed with him, and gifted him a Holy Bible. It was gentle, simple, and full of God's kindness. A door opened… and a heart opened with it.
2.The Ethiopian couple who welcomed us in.
Further inside the building, an Ethiopian couple, Muslims, opened their door and immediately invited us in for tea when they heard we had visited their country. Their joy was contagious. They loved the photos, the videos, the stories of Ethiopian food and culture, and they were thrilled to hear we’re returning March 2027. We were transported back to Ethiopia when we drank the spiced tea.
We're now arranging a meal together at the Ethiopian restaurant in Cardiff. Their hospitality was beautiful, and they genuinely wanted to hear about our travels. We gave them a Holy Bible in English and Arabic, and the gentleman, showed real interest in reading it. Another open door… another open heart.
3. The Somalian lady, and the young man who saw us pray. Later, we went to deliver a Bible to a Somalian lady we'd met earlier. She was full of gentle warmth, and we'd promised to return with a Bible after running out. But when we reached her floor, she wasn't home, and without her there, we couldn't access her level.
So we did what spirit filled beliving believers do....
We prayed!
Lucy and I placed our hands on the door for a few minutes, praying in tongues and in English.
We spoke out...
"Lord, make a way."
"Give us access"
"Send someone to open this door."
"Let your word reach this lady"
"In Jesus’ name, open this door."
As we stepped back, and as we started to walk away, a young man appeared and said,
"I saw you on the camera"
I asked, "Did you hear us praying?"
He said, "No!...I would have loved to have heard you. What were you saying?" So we told him.
In that moment, we realised this gentleman was the divine appointment. He asked about our mission work, our travels, our purpose… and we sensed the Lord had orchestrated that entire moment just for him. What a positive experience he had with christians.
The door didn't open for the lady,
but it opened for the one God had chosen.
Church, please pray.
Please pray for each of these precious people,
Richard, the Ethiopian couple, the Somalian lady, and Muhammad.
Pray that their hearts soften to the word of God, that hope rises within them, and that every open door becomes an open heart for Jesus.
"Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut."
Revelation 3:8
Church, we pray these messages encourage you as much as the encounters encouraged us.
Blessings
