Buxted Methodist Church

The main chapel is complemented by an additional hall which is available for hire and is regularly used by local groups. The Buxted Methodist Church was built in 1907 with the foundation stones dedicated during the early part of the year and services held later in the year. The Vater family was responsible for the building of the church at Buxted. A plaque commemorating the part the family played,

and their association to the Church in Buxted can be seen on the wall to the left of the Altar Table. Other named wall stones can be seen on the outside wall either side of the entrance. The internal layout of the chapel was changed in 1985 from having pews with access from each side to having pews accessed from a central isle. The extension, comprising toilets, kitchen, downstairs room and the upstairs rooms, was built in 1988. The kitchen and toilets replaced the original stables while the downstairs room was originally the site for the Minister to park his horse and trap. The Church Centenary Anniversary was celebrated in 2007 with a Festival of Flowers. To commemorate the anniversary a banner was designed and produced by a working party.
