We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Silver level of the Eco Church award.

The Eco Church survey provides a framework to church and its leadership to take practical action on caring for God’s earth.

The award is based on these five key areas of church life:

Worship and teaching
Buildings and energy
Land and nature
Community and global engagement
Lifestyle

Well done to us 🙌🏻

We celebrate the first year of Shirley’s ministry as our vicar at St Anne’s! Over the past twelve months, she has brought so much warmth, kindness, faith and joy to our church family, becoming such a valued part of our community. It has been a year filled with worship, fellowship, laughter, special moments and many blessings, and we are so grateful for all that Shirley has brought to us and look forward to all that the coming years will bring. We celebrated with Shirley’s favourite hymns at family communion this morning which was a joy 🎶

A wonderful way to spend the afternoon yesterday. Afternoon tea as part of the celebrations of 150 years of Mothers’ Union globally and 124 years 🤩 of the St Anne’s group. We are so proud of our very active Mother’s Union, the largest in Manchester Diocese. And an added delight to welcome again Bury Fire Choir for some toe taping tunes. Fantastic 🎶

Mothers’ Union is a women-led, international Christian movement dedicated to ending poverty, violence and social injustice in communities in the UK and around the world.

With over 4 million members in approximately 84 countries, they work with people of all faiths and none, transforming lives, strengthening families and communities, and advocating for meaningful change.

Rooted in kindness, faith and compassionate action, they strive to create a better future where everyone has the opportunity and resources to thrive.

We were truly honoured to host a service in church yesterday for the Whitehead Gardens Rededication Service which was followed by a tree planting by the Mayor of Bury, tours of the gardens and refreshments in the hall.

The Gardens were created in 1950 by the Whitehead family as a memorial to the 7 people who lost their lives when a V1 bomb landed on a row of cottages on Chapel St on Christmas Eve 1944. The gardens have been renovated in a project lead by Tottington & Bury West Rotary Club working with Bury Council, Proffitts and pupils from both Tottington Primary & Tottington High School, with funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund and Bury Council. What a fabulous community project it has been for the good of Tottington and how fabulous it’s particularly been to see the children get involved so enthusiastically. 🌺 🌳

We’ve reached the final week of Musical May. What a great success this has been. Thank you to everyone who has organised and supported the events in all sorts of ways, you know who you are❤️

We’ve raised an astonishing amount for both Liv’s Trust, and our organ fund. We have raised £920 for Liv’s Trust, and £1,350 for the organ fund, so across Musical May as a whole, we have raised £2,270! Such a brilliant total, thank you all for your wonderful generosity!

At our final event this morning, our Thanksgiving service, we were joined by Sharon Goodman from Liv’s Trust, and Deputy Lieutenant David Catterall. We sang some wonderful hymns and especially delighted to be able to present Sharon with a cheque for Liv’s Trust, and reflect on the wonderful events we’ve had!

Once again, thank you all for supporting Musical May in the way you have done. Musical May will be back in 2027, and we’re looking forward to it already!! 🎵
