What's on this week? We're so glad you asked!

Please remember to allow extra time if you are driving here, as there are roadworks and road closure on Flemyng Road.

Play2GROW restarts this week after a break for 12 term. Weather permitting, we are outside - please follow the signs on the notice boards to find us!

Our bookings change week by week, which is why we post this every week. This week, we are delighted to add a Tai Chi booking to our regular sessions.

Yesterday, we completed our three-part series on the Sermon on the Mount.

Like many passages in the Bible, we can be familiar with it, but still learn something new each time we read and study it.

Stephen Jarrold reflected that the passage on forgiveness is linked to why it's important for us to forgive, so that we can return to God and He can return His gaze to us.

What was very powerful, for me, was Stephen reminding us of Act 3:19, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, THAT TIMES OF REFRESHING MAY COME FROM THE LORD" (my emphasis).

Last Sunday, we watched a snippet of this video while reflecting on the Sermon on the Mount. It's so good, we're sharing the whole thing.

Remember that God never said we wouldn't have trials and troubles, He said He would be with us always.

Stephen Jarrold reminded us the phrase 'don't worry' hints at the continuous state of contemplation, ruminating (like a philosopher deep in thought) over a worrisome issue. At the end of that passage Jesus points us to the distraction from this state - to seek first the Kingdom of God (the will of God done on earth as in heaven) - in that same mindset of ongoing rumination or reflection.

We hope you enjoy this mini-reflection on our sermon, and would love you to join us this coming Sunday, as we have our final sermon in the three-part series on the Sermon on the Mount.

We're based at the IC Centre, 26 Glastonbury Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 2EX. Our building is accessible, and there is a car park at the end of the parade of shops*. We are, as our name suggests, inclusive, so everyone is welcome and loved.

*I've now got a mental image of shops going on parade, waving flags and banners as they pick up their foundations and march along Glastonbury Road!

Do you wonder what we talk about on a Sunday morning? Today, I'd like to share two reflections - 2 posts.
Post 2: The Sermon On The Mount; this was the first of three 'preaches' on Jesus' famous messages contained in Matthew Chapters 5-7. Sometimes things can become overfamiliar and we can miss things because we feel we know the passages so well.
One of the things that many people of faith can struggle with, is bereavement - which can be a loved one, a change of circumstance, the loss of something or someone important to us. We may feel we 'should' be grateful the person is no longer in pain, and is united with God in heaven. But we still mourn and grieve. Is this wrong? No, and here's a lovely modern translation of God's comfort to us:
"If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there; if you're kicked in the gut, He'll help you catch your breath". How lovely it was for me to have this reassurance.
Do you take comfort from knowing God is with us during our troubled times? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Do you wonder what we talk about on a Sunday morning? Today, I'd like to share two reflections - 2 posts.
Post 1: We each took a button from a selection, and were invited to reflect on this, using it to guide our prayers. We were also given this lovely keepsake (and the button!) to help us use this reflection as we continue in our faith journeys.
Buttons are so useful, and can be decorative, but who knew they could help us pray?! Thank you to our service leader for these reflections, and sharing their precious button collection with us!
Has this helped you think about how you pray, or encouraged you to pray? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
