Children are the future of our Church and as comes to a close we thought we should recognise all those specially trained volunteers who help the children of our parish on their journey through faith.

Having been christened, children are supported during the Mass through Children's liturgy and getting involved in the offertory when they bring the gift of their learning to Father Bosco.

Our catechists help children prepare for their first confession and first holy communion before going on to prepare for confirmation. We are also blessed with volunteers who support adults wishing to be initiated into the Catholic faith.

These events are celebrated with joy in our community, engaging many volunteers in supporting these services. It is delightful when Father Bosco introduces these newcomers to our faith who are welcomed with a round of applause during relevant Masses

THANK YOU to all involved and thank you to everyone who has engaged with these posts during the week and joined us to celebrate our volunteers with tea and cake after 11am mass today in the garden. :-)

In this our penultimate post, we thank all those volunteers who help us keep our Church and the presbytery clean as well as the garden, entrance and car park, maintained, pruned, weeded, swept and watered.

We have a growing group of the Knights of St Columba who help with the garden and other activities. We also have a growing Legion of Mary who lead the prayer group, gathering prior to the monthly 12pm Mass for the sick and soup lunch at St Bernardine’s. Those who are sick and wish to be anointed should let Father Bosco know for anointing to take place at the Mass. To include people in the Prayer list contact the Parish office by phone or email.

THANK YOU to all involved.

If you would like to join the Knights of St Columba, Legion of Mary or Prayer Group please let Father Bosco know.

Outreach is an important element of our mission and the work that is supported by volunteers at both St Bernardine's and St Martin's.

Both Churches belong to the St Paul's Pastoral Area (Milton Keynes Area) a group of 12 churches in the Northampton Diocese who promote the work of the RC Diocese of Northampton and organise events together. We currently need a volunteer to represent us on this council - please let Father Bosco know if you are interested.

We also work with other Christian Churches in both of our parishes as 'Churches Together' and get together to organise events during the year such as: Christmas and Lenten lunches, World Day of Prayer, Stations of the Cross and the Good Friday Walk.

In addition following safeguarding training there are several lovely volunteers in our churches who help Father with Housebound outreach, taking communion and visiting those that are unable to come to our Sunday masses.

This and always THANK YOU to all involved.

Helping Father Bosco lead the Parish is the volunteer led Pastoral Council (PC). In 2013, during his Pastoral Visit to Assisi, Pope Francis said “How needed pastoral councils are! A bishop cannot guide a diocese without pastoral councils. A parish priest cannot guide the parish without the parish council. This is fundamental!"

Our PC is chaired by Maggy Vince, they meet five times a year with minutes displayed in both Churches. Currently they are involved in the Diocese Pastoral Accompaniment Programme to enable us to become more focused on mission as a Parish.

Canon 537 also states that each parish is to have a Finance Committee, as a matter of diocesan law, to assist the Parish Priest in the management of the Parish funds. In addition we have a recently introduced Facilities Committee to look after the Health and Safety and repairs and renewals that are required to look after our parish properties, enabling the PC to focus on more missionary matters.

What would we do without them?

During and always - THANK YOU for all you do.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to keep our churches of St Bernardine's, Buckingham and St Martin's Brackley running and compliant - all thanks to volunteers :-)

Safeguarding, Health & Safety, counting money received, Parish admin, ordering and storing supplies, paying the bills, Gift Aid management, recording statistics, accounts, reporting to the Diocese, facilities upkeep, repairs and renewals - it doesn't just happen by magic!

So this we are taking time to remember to thank all those who diligently volunteer their time to make sure these jobs get done. THANK YOU!

We rely on the generosity of our parishioners to fund the running of our two Churches and special projects.

Led by our volunteer Social and Fundraising Committee, we have a calendar of fundraising events which in turn are supported by volunteers within the parish to help run the events and contribute food and raffle prizes etc. Volunteers also organise the monthly soup lunch as well as refreshments after Mass on Sunday and for the Buckingham Christmas Parade.

In addition we raise money through our repository and through second collections for CAFOD, SPUC (Society for the Protection of Unborn Children) and Missio through volunteer representatives.

What's more our outreach relies on communications supported by volunteers who run our page, contribute to our weekly newsletter and annual BEMA magazine, the website and email updates.

During and always we are grateful to our volunteers for giving their time, energy and resources to support our parishes. THANK YOU!

Today marks the start of - an opportunity for us to celebrate the contributions of so many volunteers serving and enriching the spiritual life of our parish.

Today we thank those who support Father at our week day and Sunday Masses including altar servers, readers, eucharistic ministers, welcomers, stewards, musicians, flower arrangers, and those who provide the candles to light.

Watch out for our social media posts highlighting these roles during the week and join us for tea and cake after Masses on 6th & 7th to thank them.

Today, we celebrate the great mystery of our faith - One God in Three Persons. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. After having celebrated, Easter, Ascension and Pentecost, we pause today to reflect, adore and contemplate the fullness of God's revelation as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Let us give thanks today for the presence of the Triune God in our lives and reflect upon the unity, love and peace of the Holy Trinity.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." — Matthew 28:19

Our Pentecost Sunday service was such a joyous occasion. Following the children's entry procession with flags from across the world we were blessed with hymns from nations represented in our congregation; Nigeria, Poland, Ireland, Spain as well as the readings in Korean and Italian.

The African offertory procession was a delight as parishioners danced and sang down the aisle carrying their gifts to the altar.

The Prayers of the Faithful were spoken in Malay, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Yoruba and Konkani, closing in English. It was a beautiful moment when Father Bosco sung in his Mother tongue during the Eucharist Prayer and very moving when he asked us all to recite the Lord's Prayer in our own language at the same time.

Following the Mass, parishioners spilled out into the garden to enjoy shared lunch and fellowship with contributions from across the cultures. An opportunity to strengthen our friendship, unity and parish community spirit.

In the words of the Communion Antiphon: They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke of the marvels of God, alleluia.

Today, our parish witnessed a beautiful reminder of the universality of our Catholic Church and a powerful image of Pentecost! At the beginning of Holy Mass, our children and teenagers walked in joyful procession towards the altar, waving flags of many nations. A moving sign that in Christ, we are one family gathered from every people, language, and nation. This expression was a perfect beginning to our Pentecost celebration, reminding us each year that the Church belongs to the whole world. People from every nation, language and culture have a place at the Lord’s altar.
May our children continue to grow in faith and courage, becoming witnesses of Christ wherever they go, as Jesus said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” Matt 28:19
