Tomorrow The Rev Pat Horton is leading our worship at 4. 00pm the reading from Mark 4 verses 21 -43 is two stories in one, the women who is healed after touching Jesus' clothes and the child bought back from the dead. In the life of Jesus here on earth he performed several healings but only a few of people being restored to life. faith made the difference, if they had faith as this women and the father of the child anything can happen, and today faith is as important but don.t expect what you ask for, Jesus knows what we need and sometimes it is not what we want.

This week the Rev Hawkins will be leading worship at 4. 00pm please remeber to let someone know if you wish to attend the service the reading this week from Mark 4 verses 26 -34 The parables of the growing seed and the mustard seed. The mustard seed is the smallest seed that you can plant yet the tree that grows from it the largest plant in the garden. Jesus is trying to describe the Kingdom of heaven, and how it can grow in our hearts if we allow it to do so.

This week there is no service at Clayhanger but the Rev Hawkins will be taking one on the 13th June. At last I have the lectionary readings for this year and our reading for this week Mark 3 verses 20 - 35 "How can Satan drive out Satan and a kingdom divided cannot stand" These are the words of Jesus when accused of being out of His mind. He had come to destroy Satan, to bring the people back to God, These words of Jesus are so true a divided kingdom can only falter and we can only serve one master by following the example of His only Son Jesus Christ.

This Sunday at 4 00pm the rev Hawkins will lead our worship. The reading from John chapter 3 verses 1 -17 'Jesus teaches Nicodemus' Conversion is a fundamental change in our beliefs and actions, When the Holy Spirit enters our lives the most dramatic changes can take place within us, i know my life was turned around so much i became a different person, perhaps not as man would have me but as God would have me be.

The reading this week from Luke 24 verses 44 - 53 the final reading written by Luke in this scripture, Jesus had returned to be with the disciples to open their minds to His teachings to prove his parentage, Jesus the Son of God the Messiah the Holy One of God. He had come to earth to show us God, to teach the truth instead of those false teachings by the Scribes and Pharisees, he tried to show us heaven life with the Heavenly Father to show how we can share in that wonderous life. How to reach his perfection with Love the main theme, we are t Love God the father with all of our hearts, and each other as we love ourselves, and we who profess to be Christians should be the example of this.

There will be a service next week at 4. 00pm instead of our usual 6 00pm the reading that I have in my old diary is from john 15 verses 9 - 17. Jesus is talking about how we should love one another as He loves us, and at that point the disciples were not aware just how much He loves us, His love was such that he gave His life for us, yet I ask would we give our lives for others. We do read of people brave people who have saved others by giving their lives and we show admiration for their deed. Yet do we show our admiration for the Son of God who not only gave his life but had to suffer greatly on that cross, for He remained human in those hours it took Him to die. We should not only admire Him for that sacrifice but show our gratitude to him and His heavenly father who allowed Him to suffer that way, who after trying so many times before by sending profits who were either dejected or dismissed leaving this the only way to save mankind.

Our next service will be on the 16th May This weeks reading from John 15 verses 1- 8 Jesus explains in this reading that he is the vine, and our Heavenly father is the gardener, Jesus always made clear that God is the ultimate, head He is His Son, to use a modern term second in command. It is he as us to encourage us to meet with God and accept Him and only God Himself, He came to earth to show us the greatness of God to worship only God, although we do also worship Jesus for His actions, it is by His cruel death that we are saved.

Our reading this week from John chapter 10 verses 11 - 18 Jesus refers to Himself and the Good Shepherd which would have been a stronger reference than today. The shepherd in those days lived with his sheep, he knew where to find the good pasture, and he would protect them from wolves to even giving hiss life, at nights he would take hi sheep into a small stronghold called the sheep pen, a brick building with just a door for them to enter and exit, and the shepherd would sleep across the doorway again protecting his sheep from those who would steel them or wolves, As at times more than one shepherd may use the sheep pen each sheep began to know the voice of its owner, thus Jesus would again make the picture of His sheep knowing His voice.
