St Patrick's Parish Church, Broughshane

St Patrick's Parish Church, Broughshane People who share God’s love with the community, by welcoming those who come through the door and serving those outside it. Everyone is welcome to God’s house.

What We Do
The great Commandment teaches us to ‘Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind’ and to ‘Love our neighbour as yourself’. The great Commission teaches us to ‘Go and make disciples of all nations baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’. The great Commandment and the great Commission are what the Church exists to do in today’s world. This can

be explained as follows:

To know Jesus and make him known
It is every Christian’s responsibility to share the good news – to tell people of Christ’s life, death and resurrection and His coming again. Worship
To worship, to pray, praise and to serve God day by day and not neglect to come together to recharge our spiritual batteries Sunday by Sunday in Church. Fellowship
To our Church all are welcome, let no one be a stranger here. Discipleship
As a church we are called not only to reach people but to teach people to grow in the knowledge and love of God. Ministry
The church exists to minister to people showing God’s love to others and helping them in their needs. Please pray for our parish, clergy and people that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we may go forward in faith. May we always remember that the tasks ahead of us are not as great as the Power behind us, the Power of the living Christ. Yesterday over 1,500 members gathered at St Paul's Cathedral to celebrate 150 years of Mothers' Union, giving thanks for a movement that has transformed lives through faith, compassion and service across the world. 💙

From humble beginnings in 1876 to a global community of millions, this milestone is a testament to the dedication of generations of members who have strengthened families, empowered communities and shared God's love in action.

As we celebrate our past, we also look ahead with renewed purpose, continuing to light the way for generations to come. Here's to the next 150 years of faith in action!

Come and support Stuart as he completes his 72 hour fast!!

As we all loosen our belts to enjoy the coffee mornings, soup lunches and cooked breakfast events that raise so much money for Christian Aid Week, please spare a thought for the incredible Canon Stuart Lloyd who is planning a 72-hour fast instead.

Canon Lloyd will abstain from all food and only drink water, starting at 8pm on Wednesday 13 May until 8pm on Saturday 16 May.

His fast will be sponsored by the parishioners of St Patrick's Parish Church, Broughshane, County Antrim, the church he joined after retiring as rector of nearby Ballymena Parish where he served for 27 years.

During business hours on each of his three fast days, Canon Lloyd will sit in the mall outside James McNeill Grocery and hardware shops in Broughshane, collecting donations and raising awareness of the work of Christian Aid.

This will be the fifth year that Canon Lloyd has completed a 72-hour fast to mark Christian Aid Week. The previous four fasts have raised a total of almost £10,000.

We are extremely grateful to Canon Lloyd for his self-sacrifice and to everyone who sponsors his effort.
