This morning there will be a peal attempt at St Peters rang by members of a national ringing society band called the Royal Cumberland Youths. The method they will ring is called Uxbridge Surprise Major. This is, as with all peals, continuous ringing for over 3 hours with over 5000 changes if done successfully. The amount of skill and concentration needed to achieve this level of ringing has taken years of practice. So if you hear the bells this morning please appreciate their talent and commitment to the art of Campanology. Good Luck to them. πŸ””πŸ€žπŸΌπŸ””

πŸ”” A Special Peal in Memory of Peter Newing πŸ””

On the 24th October, a band of Bromyard bell ringers will be ringing a full peal (which entails 5040 changes and takes over 3 hours of continuous ringing - no mean feat) in memory of Peter, whose incredible generosity helped shape the very sound of our tower and allowing us to become a "centre of excellence" with training new ringers as well as enhancing the age old technique for established ringers alike.

Peter kindly donated our two trebles (bells 1 & 2), a gift that not only enhanced our ringing but also inspired the full augmentation to 10 bells project back in September 2016. That project transformed our tower from eight bellsβ€”last rehung in 1968β€”to the joyful ten we have today.

Thanks to Peter’s generosity and vision, Bromyard continues to enjoy the beautiful sound of ten bells ringing out across our town, marking special occasions and bringing our community together.

We ring with gratitude, remembrance, and joy β€” celebrating both the man and the music his kindness made possible. ❀️

There is also a visiting band that will be attempting a Peal in December, in celebration of the festive season.

If you are interested in learning to ring, we hold learner sessions at St. Peter's Church Bromyard
Wednesday evenings 6.15pm. We welcome ringers (Old and New) from all the surrounding areas as we are always looking to welcome people to ring with us at Bishops Frome, Stoke Lacy, Much Cowarne, Bredenbury and Pencombe as well as Bromyard. If you would like to join our merry band please get in contact with us.

They’ll be attempting to ring a full peal, that's over 5000 changes and is over 3 hours of continuous concentration, so if you're nearby, keep an ear out for the beautiful sound of bells ringing out!

A lovely chance to enjoy some skilled ringing – fingers crossed for a successful performance!

πŸ”” Memorial Bell Ringing for Peter Newing πŸ””
Monday, 23rd June at 10:00 AM

We will be ringing a full peal in memory of Peter Newing. In 2016, Peter's extraordinary generosity made possible the addition of our two newest bells, bringing our tower to a complete ring of ten.

A full peal is a traditional bell ringing performance of over 5,000 changes, typically lasting around three hours. This remarkable feat will be performed by local ringers, many who knew Peter personally, making this tribute all the more meaningful.

Peter's thoughtful gift continues to enrich our tower. Therefore, we honour his memory and celebrate the lasting legacy of his kindness.

We encourage everyone to pause, listen, and reflect as our bells ring out in tribute to a man whose generosity continues to bring joy and beauty to our town.

Tonight we welcome Bromyard Rainbows and Beavers up in the tower. Lots of young people trying their hand at a bit of chiming and hand bells πŸ””πŸ””πŸ””

πŸ”” Bell Ringing in Memory of Peter Newing πŸ””

This morning at 10:30am, there will be a special 45-minute ringing in memory of Peter Newing, who so generously donated the two newest bells in our tower back in 2016, completing our ring of ten bells.

Peter’s gift has enriched our church's sound and heritage, and we remember him today with gratitude and respect.

Please take a moment to listen and reflect as the bells ring out in his honour.
