Life Church Bristol is a gathering of people committed to the values of the early church, which we read about in the Bible. We love God and love people and are committed to helping meet the needs of those within our local community. We meet together every Sunday to encourage one another in the journey of faith. No matter where you are or what season of life you are in, you are welcome to join us.

We ❤️ Sundays at Life Church Bristol.

This Sunday was extra special as we celebrated Father’s Day and honoured the amazing men in our church family 💙

We also heard an encouraging message from Jye Allen on what it means to stand firm in the freedom Christ has won for us.

So grateful for the fathers, grandfathers, spiritual fathers and men who faithfully serve and encourage others 🙌

This Sunday, John Doherty shared a powerful message titled *Local Church on a Global Mission* 🌍✨

Looking at Acts 11, we saw how the early church spread far beyond Jerusalem as ordinary believers carried the good news of Jesus wherever they went. Many had been scattered through persecution, yet everywhere they travelled they shared their faith. They weren’t famous preachers or church leaders—they were ordinary disciples whose lives had been transformed by Jesus.

We were reminded that the gospel is for everyone. The believers in Antioch crossed cultural boundaries, stepped outside their comfort zones and shared Christ with people who were very different from themselves.

John encouraged us with three simple challenges:

🌱 Be planted — commit to the local church and allow God to establish you.

📖 Grow — be discipled, rooted in God’s Word and strengthened in your faith.

🚶 Go — be willing to step out, share Jesus and follow wherever God leads.

The church in Antioch became a thriving, diverse community that worshipped, prayed and listened to God’s voice. From there, Paul and Barnabas were sent out on mission, helping spread the gospel throughout the known world.

Over these five weeks we’ll look at things like:

❓What’s the deal with the Bible?
❓What’s the Gospel and why is it good?
❓What does it mean to live as a Christian?
❓What about church and all that other stuff - the Good, the Bad and the Beautiful...

What a great morning together as we worshipped, prayed and heard an inspiring message from John Doherty on God’s heart for the nations 🌍🙌

We were challenged to be planted, grow in our faith and be ready to go wherever God calls us.

This Sunday, guest speaker Nigel Savage from continued our *Expect the Unexpected* series with a message on healing ❤️‍🩹

Looking at Acts 3:1-10, where Peter and John heal the lame man at the temple gate, we were reminded that God often works in ways we don’t expect. He isn’t limited by our schedules, plans or timelines.

Nigel highlighted three powerful truths about healing:

✨ Healing proclaims Jesus’ victory
🔥 Healing demonstrates the power of the Holy Spirit
❤️ Healing reveals the Father’s heart

Peter and John may not have had silver or gold, but they knew what they did have—the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. As followers of Jesus, we have that same Spirit living in us today.

While we can’t heal people through our own strength, we can point people to Jesus and show them that they are deeply loved by God.

As we continue this series, we’re believing that when we pray, we can expect the unexpected—including in the area of healing. Let’s continue to pray for those believing for healing and ask God to anoint us for all He has called us to do.

This Sunday, Phil Malcolm continued our *Expect the Unexpected* series with a message on the gift of prophecy 🔥

Looking through both the Old and New Testaments, we were reminded that prophecy has always been part of God’s story. It’s not simply about foretelling the future, but about speaking God’s heart into present situations under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

Phil encouraged us that prophecy is not an exclusive gift reserved for church leaders. Rather, it is one of the ways God expresses His love for His people—bringing encouragement, comfort, clarity and pointing people towards Jesus.

We were also reminded that love must always come before spiritual gifts. Prophecy should build unity, not division; bring clarity, not confusion; and ultimately glorify Christ.

As we seek to grow in the gifts God has given us, Scripture encourages us to test everything, hold fast to what is good, and exercise spiritual gifts with humility, faith and love.

Phil Malcom brought an encouraging message on prophecy and how we can grow in hearing from God and stepping out in faith to use the gifts He has given us. ✨

So grateful for God’s presence among us and for all He’s doing in our church family ❤️

This Pentecost Sunday we launched our new series, Expect the Unexpected 🔥🙌

Pastor Gareth spoke from Acts 12:1–17, reminding us that prayer is powerful and that when God’s people pray, incredible things can happen.

Through the story of Peter’s miraculous release from prison, we were encouraged that:
• Prayer is the best option when we don’t know what to do
• Prayer involves us in the unexpected things God can do
• Prayer shows us God’s power, not ours

James 5 reminds us that the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. As a church, we want to be people who dream big, pray often, trust God and take every opportunity He places before us ✨
