Life Church Bristol is a gathering of people committed to the values of the early church, which we read about in the Bible. We love God and love people and are committed to helping meet the needs of those within our local community. We meet together every Sunday to encourage one another in the journey of faith. 🌱 The Barnabas Effect: Series Roundup

What does it look like to be someone who helps others grow in faith?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored the life of Barnabas and the impact one person can have when they live wholeheartedly for Jesus.

✨ The Encourager — building others up through our words and actions.

🧱 The Builder — seeing people as Jesus sees them, welcoming them in and loving them enough to help them grow.

📣 The Evangelist — sharing our faith courageously, depending on the Holy Spirit and making room for others to flourish.

🌱 The Grower — recognising our blind spots, receiving godly challenge and choosing growth over pride.

Barnabas reminds us that making a difference isn’t about being the most well-known, the most confident or the most gifted. It’s about being faithful, depending on the Holy Spirit and helping others become all God has called them to be.

So, who could you encourage, welcome, invest in or learn from this week?

A challenging verse — but an important reminder that growth requires humility.

It’s easy to welcome encouragement when it makes us feel good. It’s harder when someone points out something we’d rather not see. But wise, loving correction can help us recognise our blind spots and become more like Jesus.

This week, let’s ask ourselves: am I rejecting this because it isn’t true, or because it challenges my pride?

Another great Sunday at Life Church Bristol! 🙌

Tara Malcom continued our look at Barnabas, exploring what it means to keep growing in our faith — including recognising our blind spots, receiving godly challenge and choosing truth over pride.

Because encouragement isn’t just about making people feel good. Sometimes, real love means being willing to challenge one another and help each other become more like Jesus.

Barnabas may not have been the most well-known leader in the early Church, but his impact was undeniable.

John Doherty explored how Barnabas’s generosity, courage and encouragement helped others flourish. He welcomed Saul when others were afraid to trust him, invested in emerging leaders and helped build a church where people could grow together.

His life reminds us that serving God isn’t about being the most confident or having all the answers. It’s about depending on the Holy Spirit, being willing to step out in faith and making room for others to thrive — even when they go on to achieve more than we do.

What a joy to gather together to worship, pray and continue our series on Barnabas with a message from John about Barnabas the Evangelist.

This Sunday, we continued looking at the life of Barnabas — the “builder”.

Barnabas shows us what it looks like to build people up by seeing them as Jesus sees them, welcoming them into the family and loving them enough to help them grow.

His decision to stand alongside Saul may have seemed like a small act at the time, but it played a significant part in the story of the early Church.
We were challenged to consider who God might be asking us to see, welcome and invest in — and whether we’re ready to play our part in what God is doing in our city.
Small acts of obedience can have an eternal impact.

What a great Sunday together! 🙌

This week we continued exploring the life of Barnabas and what it looks like to be a builder in God’s Kingdom.
Through Barnabas’ example, we were challenged to see people as Jesus sees them, welcome them into the family and love them enough to help them grow.

Because sometimes the seemingly small things we do in obedience to God can have an impact far beyond what we ever see. ❤️
