Can Legislation change Morality?

The Conversation Collective is a discussion group for any adult to come along and each week we discuss a different topic over a pint or glass of what ever you preference to drink is. We meet at the Albion Pub at 7pm and are often done by 8:15pm depending on how much we want to discuss.

All adults welcome!

This Sunday 17th May 2026, we begin a new preaching series called Dinners with Jesus.

Exploring the meals Jesus shared in Luke’s Gospel and the transformative encounters that happened around the table. Meals were so central to the ministry of Jesus. He regularly shared food with people others avoided: tax collectors, sinners, outsiders, and the ceremonially unclean. In Luke’s Gospel especially, Jesus is constantly at a meal, on his way to one, or leaving one. These moments were not incidental to his ministry but one of the primary ways he revealed the kingdom of God.

10:30-11:45 in the Main Hall at Gordano School, Portishead.

As always thank you so much for donations made last week. If you’re in the position to donate to us we are in need of :
Toilet rolls
Tinned Custard
Tinned fruit

Foodbank will be open as usual on Friday 15th May from 12-2

PLEASE NOTE - we will now be operating from our new premises at the Scout Hut which is on the corner of Station Road and South Avenue. You may have seen our new banner on the railings.

There is no parking at the Scout Hut so PLEASE remember to park legally and safely when visiting us.

We will be operating as the foodbank normally does - if you have an issued voucher then we will try to help you with a food parcel and hopefully some advice. Please have patience tomorrow as it is new premises and we are sure there will be some hiccups - our volunteers will have to get used to where everything is.

We will NOT have our fresh food available. This is still running at No 4 Combe Road. "Fresh Food at No 4" (This is dependent on Brakes being able to deliver)

Our clients will be able to come to us for their food parcel and then go to No 4 for the fresh food or vice versa. For those who haven’t been there before you don’t need a voucher to access the fresh food but they do ask that you come if you actually NEED it rather than just because it’s food for free. It is also appreciated if you can bring your own bag . 👍

Can we also make it clear that it IS NOT first come/first served. In fact the kitchen team don’t always have everything sorted by 12 so other things appear as the session goes on.

Can we also remind people that if they need help please ring the Foodbank phone on 07379 891130.
This page is NOT MANNED 24/7 as we are run by volunteers. If you message or comment here it may be missed.
Thank you as always
The Foodbank Team

My goodness - this is a post which is bittersweet to write.

Tomorrow is our last foodbank session in No 4 Combe Road. We are then moving to share the Scout Hut in Portishead and our next Friday session will come from there.

We would just like to thank the leaders (both past and present),Trustees and members of GVC for their support for us since the inception of foodbank in Portishead under the leadership of the amazing and sadly missed Pat Gordon.

We will still be working closely with No 4 and they have kindly agreed that we can continue to receive donations there as before.

The Fresh Food at No 4 will continue to operate from there and we will of course work closely with them to ensure the needs of those in food poverty in Portishead is met.

There will be lots of news to share about the new move and thanks to give for the amazing volunteers and local businesses who have supported our refurbishment of areas of the building to meet our needs- but that is for another post!

So to turn to the routine -
As always thank you so much for donations made last week. If you’re in the position to donate to us we are in need of :
