🔥Pentecost at Bristol Ordinariate this morning.🔥

Father Richard celebrated, and the hymns were beautiful, we opened with "Come, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire," sang "Come down, O Love divine" to send us out, and "O King enthroned on high" at communion.

Fitting for the day the Spirit came down on the apostles in wind and fire. A few photos below.

It's Pentecost Sunday, the day the Church remembers the Holy Spirit coming down on the apostles. Join us at 9:15 this morning for Mass in the Ordinariate rite at St James Priory, 1 Whitson Street, Bristol BS1 3NZ, right next to the bus station.

The Ordinariate Mass keeps much of the language and music of the English Catholic tradition, so if you grew up Anglican, a lot of it will feel familiar. And if you didn't, it's still a beautiful way to worship.

Whether you're a former Anglican, a lifelong Catholic, or just curious and visiting for the first time, you're welcome. Come and see.

This morning Fr Bernard reminded us of something simple and profound: pray.

Not just when things are hard. Not just when we know what to ask for. In all things.

St Thérèse of Lisieux, urged those who came after her to go deeper in prayer, to bring everything to God without holding back.

Fr Bernard reminded us that God already knows what we need, and sometimes his plan is better than the one we arrived with. But that is not a reason to stay silent. It is a reason to speak more freely, more honestly, more often.

Tell him what you need. Then trust him with the answer.

A blessed Sixth Sunday of Easter from the Bristol Ordinariate.

The Sixth Sunday of Easter, Rogation Sunday, in central Bristol, and the congregation is singing "Now the green blade riseth."

Grain that falls into the earth and rises. Love that seemed lost and comes again. The Mass has ended, the sacred vessels are put away, and yet the whole of the Gospel is in that hymn.

Today's Gospel carries a promise: "I will not leave you desolate; I will come to you."

He has not. He does not. Every Sunday, 9.15am, in the heart of Bristol.

Introducing The Spring: Ordinariate Life - a new online home for the stories, voices, and the living witness of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham across the country. Its name is an homage to St John Henry Newman, patron saint of the Ordinariate, and his vision of a “Second Spring”: a season of renewal, hope, and fresh growth in the life of the Church.

The Spring will gather reflections, news, pastoral writing, mission updates, pilgrimages, testimonies, and glimpses of the rich life of our communities. Whether you are a long-standing member, curious about the Ordinariate, or simply looking for encouragement in the faith, we hope The Spring will become a source of inspiration and connection.

Above all, we hope to hear from missions and groups around the country. Please do share your events, stories, initiatives, and signs of hope, so that together we can reflect the vibrant and growing life of the Ordinariate in every region.

Every Mass ends the same way.

"Mass has ended. Go forth in peace"

And every week, hidden in the very centre of Bristol, a small congregation gather for Mass. Most have been received as former Anglicans.

If you have never experienced Mass in the Ordinariate Rite, there is something here that is worth finding. Ancient words, traditional worship, and a living faith, every Sunday in central Bristol.
We would love to see you next week.

Good Shepherd Sunday at St James Priory, Bristol.
Today's Gospel is one of the most tender in all of Scripture: the shepherd who knows his sheep by name, who goes before them, whose voice they recognise. "I am the door," Jesus says. "If any one enters by me, he will be saved."

Fr Richard challenged us this morning with a question worth sitting with: when did you last invite someone to become Catholic?

There is a door, and it is a person, and he is worth knowing.

If you have been curious about the Catholic faith, or about this quiet, beautiful corner of it in the heart of Bristol, we would love to see you.
