Clifton Cathedral Music Providing music for liturgies at Clifton Cathedral, together with services and resources for the Diocese of Clifton.

The Music Service is based at Clifton Roman Catholic Cathedral in Bristol, where we provide a wide range of music for Masses and other celebrations at the Cathedral, both as a part of parish life and as a part of the wider diocese. Clifton Cathedral is a house for the people of God built in 1973 - but we also provide services and resources for the wider Diocese of Clifton (www.cliftondiocese.com).

Today at 20:15 on BBC Radio 3 the World Premiere of David Bednall’s St Mark Passion is broadcast, performed by the BBC Singers with Brass and Percussion from English National Opera and Andrew Lumsden (Organ), directed by Sofi Jeannin.

It is a dramatic setting of the Passion of our Lord using the William Tyndale translation, prepared for this purpose by The Reverend Canon Neville Boundy.

Available on Listen Again shortly after broadcast.

As we approach The Baptism of the Lord tomorrow, a beautiful setting by contemporary composer Clemmie Dawson of ‘The Christ Child’, sung by the Cathedral Choir recorded live at Solemn Mass on 4th January 2026.

Clemmie Dawson is a sixth-form student at Benenden School and has written a number of choral works.
