The Music Service is based at Clifton Roman Catholic Cathedral in Bristol, where we provide a wide range of music for Masses and other celebrations at the Cathedral, both as a part of parish life and as a part of the wider diocese. Clifton Cathedral is a house for the people of God built in 1973 - but we also provide services and resources for the wider Diocese of Clifton (www.cliftondiocese.com).

From the organ loft to the top of Alpe d’Huez! 🚴⛰️

Last Sunday our Cathedral Organist, Stephen Bryant, completed L’Étape du Tour de France — 100 miles, four Alpine climbs and 5,500m of ascent, crossing the line on Alpe d’Huez after eleven and a half hours in the saddle. Of the 17,000 riders who set off, only 12,171 made it to the finish — with Stephen just inside the top 10,000. Two days later he was back up the mountain again… “for fun”.

Today at 20:15 on BBC Radio 3 the World Premiere of David Bednall’s St Mark Passion is broadcast, performed by the BBC Singers with Brass and Percussion from English National Opera and Andrew Lumsden (Organ), directed by Sofi Jeannin.

It is a dramatic setting of the Passion of our Lord using the William Tyndale translation, prepared for this purpose by The Reverend Canon Neville Boundy.
