It has been announced that former Bishop of Bristol Barry Rogerson has died.

Rest eternal grant to him O Lord,
and let light perpetual shine upon him.
May he rest in peace
and rise in glory.

It is with sadness that the Diocese of Bristol shares the news of the death of Bishop Barry Rogerson, Bishop of Bristol 1985-2002, on Thursday 20 August 2026, aged 90.

We offer our condolences to Bishop Barry's wife Olga, his daughters Sue and Debbie, his extended family and friends and hold them in our prayers.

The people of the Diocese of Bristol are invited to give thanks for +Barry at a special Evensong in Bristol Cathedral on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at 5.15pm.
