// Something big is happening on the 24th of May…

The world can sometimes feel full of bad news, negativity and hopelessness.

But on the 24th, we will be gathering together to reflect on Hope for the City.

Anyone is welcome, whether you feel messy and hopeless or full and together.. This event is just for you.

// Join us this Easter for services remembering the greatest weekend in history.

Thursday evening features a contemplative service reflecting on the events leading up to the crucifixion

On Good Friday at 10am we consider how a day which seemed so bad, was actually so GOOD for humanity

And on Sunday….we celebrate that HE IS RISEN (He Is Risen indeed)

// This Thursday we start our 2026 Alpha course! If you’ve not heard about Alpha before, it is an 8 week course where a group of people meet together each week for food and discussion around life’s big questions…

And the best part is… you’re invited! Whether you’ve never been in a church building before, you grew up in church but decided to head a different direction or you’ve been giving church a go but still have questions, Alpha is for you!

// Today we will be praying for Bristol and the World.

Bristol
Praise God for the city of Bristol – the people who live here, the life we share together, it’s rich Christian heritage, it’s culture.
Pray that the city would turn to Christ and people would be saved. Pray for the needs of Bristol – the housing crisis, poverty, those facing ill-health, drug abuse, knife crime.

The World
Praise God that we are part of a global family that is growing. Praise God that the gospel crosses cultures and transforms lives.
Pray that we would be part of God’s global work. Pray that every culture in the world would have a gospel witness. Pray that Broadmead would send and support people doing this.

6 pm – 12 am this evening…
Join us at church for a half night of prayer. Come for as much or as little as you can. Each hour will have a different focus, and will have worship, Bible input, and prayer. We will be fasting before the half night of prayer and you would be very welcome to join us, but if you haven’t fasted then you’re still very welcome to come and pray together.

// In the middle of October we ran a little Church Serving Fair to help grow the teams who help the church do all the many things it does! It was so eye opening to see all the different ways people can serve, and a great way to get people involved!

As we pray for the practicalities of church life today, we are praying for all those who serve in different ways, in particular the following areas which can take a lot of time (and sacrifice) to do well.

Hospitality
Praise God for the gift of food and church community, and all who feed and host at church.
Pray for the growth of church community, and wisdom in finding a new hospitality deacon.

Publicity
Praise God for the gift of communication and the gifts and service of the publicity team.
Pray for the publicity team and for Mark W as he settles in as the new deacon.

Music
Praise God for music, the joy of worshipping, and the gifts and service of the music team.
Pray for the music team and Ellie V leading it. Pray we worship God in spirit and truth.

Tech
Praise God for the tech that helps us worship, and the gifts and service of the teach team.
Pray for the tech team and Mark S leading it. Pray for its smooth operation.

Finance
Praise God for providing money for the church, and the gifts and service of the finance team.
Pray for the finance team and Arpi P leading it. Pray for God to provide and wisdom spending.

Building
Praise God for providing the church building, and the gifts and service of the chapel trust.
Pray for the chapel trust, and Noah C leading it. Pray for the cross, renovations, and building health.

// We are blessed at Broadmead to have people from all different ages and stages, from kids and youth, through students and graduates to those more advanced in years… And it’s a wonderful picture of the family of Christ. And today we are taking time to pray for the different groups in this church body.

Join us on Zoom when possible!

Adults
Praise God for his work in our midst. Praise him for the diversity of our congregation – different ethnicities, backgrounds, stages of life, experiences and more.
Pray that we would follow Christ and be transformed into his likeness whatever our circumstances. Pray that we would support and love one another.

Students
Praise God for the opportunity that students have to study, and to live and speak for Jesus.
Pray that they would grow more in love with Jesus. Pray that they would live and speak for him. Pray for the student team at Broadmead and the CU in encouraging them to do so.

Children
Praise God for the children and young people who attend Broadmead. Praise God for the families they are in, for those who work with them on Sunday and through the week.
Pray that the children and young people would know and love Jesus Christ. Pray for parents as they disciple their children. Pray for those who lead the work with children in church.

// Today we’re praying for reaching out to our city! We are placed so centrally in the City Centre with thousands of people walking past the church every day, and we come into contact with so many people every day - how many of those people know Jesus? We have many opportunities to share the gospel in our day to day lives, so we’re focussing on those today!

Alpha
Praise God for the gospel! Praise God for the Alpha course and the way that God has used it across the world and in our church to bring people to Christ.
Pray for non-Christians to come and be receptive. Pray for the table leaders to know the leading of the Spirit. Pray for all the logistics to go smoothly. Pray for salvation!

Outreach
Praise God for the opportunity to speak truth to the city of Bristol. Praise God for the shoots of gospel openness and gospel change that we are seeing.
Pray that the event planned for May would clearly proclaim the gospel. Pray that it would be well-attended by people who don’t know Christ. Pray for salvation!

// Today we pray for God to revive us! We had a wonderful service back in December where we saw a few of the church family be baptised - so may this be an encouragement and a reminder of how God can strengthen His believers and grow His Church.

Here are some areas to guide our prayer today:

Praying Church
Praise God for his glory and grace. Anything of any spiritual worth we have is his gift. Praise him for the gift of prayer.
Pray that we would be a praying church – when we are gathered and when we are scattered, in appointed times and all the time, overflowing with praise and thirsty for more of him.

Speaking the truth in love
Praise God for the gift of truth. Praise God for the gift of love. Praise God that he uses truth spoken in love to build up his Church.
Pray that we would speak the truth to one another in love. Pray that we would know and experience the truth. Pray that we would know and experience God’s love.

Transformation in Christ
Praise God that by his grace he is changing us and will change us to be more like Jesus.
Pray that this process would continue and deepen, that as a church we would be changing, growing, and being transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus.
