Starting 1 October, we’re running Fundamentals of the Faith in Bristol — 13 weeks of opening the Bible and working through the foundations of Christianity together.

We’ll look at questions like:
Who is God?
Why can we trust the Bible?
Who is Jesus?
What did the cross achieve?
Why does the church matter?
How do we understand God’s will?

Aimed at new Christians, long-time Christians who want to fill in the gaps, and anyone who wants to understand and explain their faith more clearly.

If somebody asked you why you are a Christian, how much of your answer could you show them from the Bible?

Many of us have been Christians for years. We know many of the stories. We hear sermons every week. We know what we believe.

But sometimes it is worth going right back and asking: do I really understand how it all fits together?

Who is God?

How can we know that the Bible is God’s Word — and how should we understand it?

Who exactly is Jesus Christ, and what did His death accomplish?

What actually happens when God saves somebody?

Who is the Holy Spirit? What is prayer? Why does the church matter? What does obedience look like? How should a Christian understand God’s will?

Beginning 1st October, we are planning to work through Fundamentals of the Faith at Spirit of Life Church in Bristol — thirteen lessons taking us systematically through some of the great foundations of Christianity.

This isn’t about accumulating religious information.

The aim is to open the Bible and learn Christianity from the Bible.

It is for the newer Christian who wants strong foundations. It is for the Christian who has followed Christ for years but knows there are gaps in their understanding. And it is for the person who wants to become better equipped to explain what they believe, why they believe it, and where Scripture teaches it.

The course material was developed at Grace Community Church over many years and is clear, structured and absolutely packed with Scripture.

13 weeks.
13 foundations.
Bible open.
