Dear All,

We continue in our Advent season by looking once again at John the Baptist.

However, what we see, is that John is not the focus. John proclaims his message of repentance and points away from himself and instead points to Jesus. John’s ministry is all about Jesus. All about how it is Jesus, who breaks the power of rejection and how Jesus is filled with power and authority.

John gives a picture of Jesus harvesting the wheat fields.

It is Jesus who brings in the crop, and it is also Jesus, who sorts the crop.

The question for us is, ‘are we ready for the harvest of Jesus?’

Does our life reflect the glory and wonder and power of Jesus?

As we journey further into Advent this year, I pray for the power and authority of Jesus to be present in us, so that our lives are indeed full of the glory, wonder and power of Jesus and that our lives point to Jesus as the only one who is able to make sense of this life and teach us to grow into the community of faith he longs to see in us.

God bless you all, with love and prayer.
Derek

God for whom we watch and wait,
you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son:
give us courage to speak the truth,
to huger for justice,
and to suffer for the cause of right,
with Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
