Severe heat can kill and people on the streets are very vulnerable. During the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) the Wild Goose drop-in will be open to for longer (until 4pm) so that people can have shade and drinks during the hottest part of the day.

Over the last week, people around the world have been celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday and the extraordinary impact he’s had on how we see and protect our planet. 🌍

One of the greatest gifts we can give the environment is to reduce the amount of plastic waste we create every day… and we think he’d absolutely love the idea of borrowing instead of buying to help make that happen!

By sharing and reusing items in our communities, we can cut down on unnecessary consumption, reduce waste and make better use of the resources we already have.

As Attenborough once said: “If you don't need it, don't use it. And if you do use it, be mindful of where you put it.”

A simple reminder that small choices – reusing, repairing, borrowing and reducing waste – really do matter. 💚

🤔 Waste isn’t just something we throw away… it’s something we’ve been thinking about all wrong.

In our latest blog, we explore how repair, sharing and reuse are helping to reshape communities, from grassroots initiatives to university-led sustainability hubs.

Drawing on insights from Bristol’s circular economy leaders, it highlights a powerful shift: from waste to resource, from ownership to access, and from individual action to collective change.

🪛 From fixing a broken toaster to borrowing instead of buying, small actions are building something much bigger: a more sustainable, connected and resilient society.
