On Monday 7th September from 1-3pm our fantastic Toddler Group will be starting back up at St Barnabas Church, Daventry Road. It's a free Toddler group for 0-4 year olds. Childminders are welcome. Refreshments, loads of toys, ride-ons, music session and making lasting friendships are all part of our group sessions. No booking required, arrive when you can and stay as long as you need to. We look forward to welcoming you :)

We are going to be running a Youth Alpha course for anyone aged 12-18 who is interested in finding out about Christianity. Over the weeks we'll have the opportunity to ask ANY questions on a big variety of topics like: What is love? How can we overcome evil? Is there a God and if there is, what does he/she do? Why would I pray? We'll provide you with a free breakfast as we start by watching a short video to kick of the topic.
The free course will start on Sunday 20th September and will run every other week until the end of November. Start time: 10am on Sunday Mornings. You are welcome. Parent free zone.

Join us as we begin a five week Season of Creation focus with Creation in Christ, a new Festival, one of the fruits of a growing worldwide ecumenical church movement.

Opportunity to give thanks for God’s creation and redemption of the world and reflect on humanity’s responsibility to care for the natural world and pray for its renewal.

“Creation in Christ” emphasises that creation is understood through the person and work of Jesus Christ: created, sustained and destined for renewal in Christ.

The Festival connects the liturgical celebration of creation with the Church’s calling, expressed in the Fifth Mark of Mission, to ‘safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth’.

Creation must be cherished because it is created in Christ, sustained in Christ, wounded by human sin, and destined for renewal in Christ. We work to see Humanity Reconciled and Creation Restored.

Our Gospel journey continues, and follows from God’s gift of salvation and the opening of our hearts to Jesus, to encounter the call for us to be agents of God’s grace, compassion, and love to the world. It’s not easy and requires sacrifice, but promises life for us and our world, if we take up our crosses and follow Christ.

What does God’s call mean for us? What can we expect when we receive God’s call? These are the questions at the heart of the readings, and they gracefully flow from last week’s challenge of how we confess who Jesus is.

** 𝙳𝚘 𝚓𝚘𝚒𝚗 𝚞𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚜𝚑𝚒𝚙 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚛𝚎𝚏𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚑𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚜 𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎. 𝙰𝚕𝚕 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚆𝚎𝚕𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚎! **

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus is, as are we in our time, confronted with competing truth claims. Yet, he doesn't retreat to safety; instead, brings the question of identity into the heart of these competing voices. Jesus wasn’t looking for a superficial answers but wants to know what's in our hearts.

The questions for our hearts and the test of belief and allegiance in a divided society is ultimately about how we confess and show our
faith to others, not intellectually but practically, everyday.

In this week's Gospel, Jesus, after pointing to the importance of what is on the heart, and what motivates our speaking, shows that it is the outcast (Gentiles) who are included in God's plan of salvation. We too are called to ensure what is in our heart and therefore our speaking, either in everyday life, or even our proclamation of the Good News of God, does not judge or exclude others in God's work of saving the world and all, and especially the outcast.

Jewellery making at Safe Hang Out Space, St Barnabas, Knowle West.

Kasasagi StudiosWe had a great time at Safe Hang Out Space on Monday evening with thanks to Cashman and team at -Studios who delivered an exciting jewellery making workshop to our Young People.
They made bracelets, chain necklaces and pendants. There was a real excitement around using the great variety of very professional tools and producing items they will keep forever.
Our next Safe Hang Out Space will be on Monday 17th August.
6-7:30pm. Children 8-14 yrs are welcome.
