Today in our Sunday worship we welcomed lots of people back from their summer holidays and continued our theme of walking with Jesus. This time climbing with Jesus. We considered what we need to take in our bags if we go mountain climbing with some help from Rosie and a top tip that if we go climbing one of the most important things to take (in her experience) is waterproofs. Cos if you get wet you are just uncomfortable all day. We thought about the things we take in our bags with us every day looking at the essentials. However psalm 121 brought us a different look at climbing through this hills as God is there. And Matthew 17: which reminds us that faith as small as a mustard seed can move those mountains that get in our way.
We also spent time thinking of you children and young people who are starting school, going back to school. Starting college or going to uni. As well praying for them we prayed for the educators that worship with us at the citadel.

A couple of days late with our Sunday worship update.
This week we continued our theme with keeping Jesus the main thing. And walking through the Storm with him. Now some of those storms (we were reminded) are things that happen to us but occasionally- and I’m sure we can all agree - sometimes they are due to our own stupidity! However we looked at Jesus calming the sea and how He - in the boat with the disciples commanded the waves to Be Still.
Last week we heard from three or our young people who had been away on camps, this week it was Rachael’s turn. She had just returned for the North West (and Isle of Man) summer school. She spoke honestly about the impact of moving and the importance of being rooted in Jesus. Fitting well with the theme of fixing our attention on him, all the time but especially during the storms.

In our Sunday worship this week we went Fishing with Jesus. (Scripture from Matthew 4:18-22). We reflected on where we had been with Jesus recently and heard from Lucy, Lara and Charlotte who have been to various camps over the last week or so (local and USA) and they shared their encounters with Jesus.

We moved then to Fishing with Jesus - I will make you fishers of men. We have a visual of a fishing net - Deb and Dom had been busy looking at the treasures we hold in the citadel and the huge net was one of them. The challenge for us was to not rely on those small nets you find at the seaside bit to go big. Have faith and fish with Jesus. We were encouraged to write down names of places where we will take Jesus with us - and go fish.
