Mama Zhivka, a Christian who is part of the local church in the remote Roma village of Slatina, Bulgaria is a beacon of hope to the community as she cooks and serves up bowls of hot soup for people, particularly the children.

Thanks to a grant from donations to our Harvest for the Hungry appeal, Mission Possible Bulgaria were able to purchase ingredients for the soup kitchen from the start of the year until the middle of April.

There is a real need in this community for help with food provision, as many of the residents face a lack of stable employment. The work available to them is seasonal, so providing for their families throughout the year is tough. The church in Slatina not only provides practical help but offers spiritual encouragement through believers visiting homes and sharing the gospel.

Evangelical Protestant Church Shishmantsi is a Roma church in Bulgaria which our partner Nikola Atanasov oversees. With a grant provided through your donations to Harvest for the Hungry, they purchased food to make up forty packages and went into the community to share practical love.

Church members visited local people experiencing poverty who as yet, don't know Christ, so that they would be helped with food provision and there might be the opportunity to tell them about Jesus Christ. Many people were taken by surprise by the church's kindness to them.

This weekend, two women were baptised in Montenegro! God bless these two women who made the decision to testify to Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Here they are pictured with TEN partner, Daniel Stracinski.

As TEN staff, it is a privilege to be part of something so wonderful as working alongside our faithful partners in the Balkans and Eastern Europe to serve God. It is also a privilege to work alongside each other.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a lovely team day together. We enjoyed great food at at Severn Beach and The Ugly Mug café in Chepstow, as well as doing a treasure hunt around the town.

We are all very different but the dynamic just works, and this is not something we take for granted. It is the grace of God.

We're taking part in the Sofia Marathon and Half-Marathon this year! A team of nine will take part of these running events in Bulgaria's capital on 11th October to raise funds for Emanuel Hospice in Oradea, Romania, and the wider work of TEN.

Our fundraising target is £15,000 and funds raised will be split equally between Emanuel Hospice - for their residential Palliative Care Centre building project - and where most needed across the TEN network.

On our team we have Warren, Zoë, Justin, Matt and Jon. Mihai and Raul will represent Emanuel Hospice. James and Chris of the TEN staff team will also take part. To sponsor our team, visit: https://www.stewardship.org.uk/pages/run4ten

Thank you for supporting Harvest for the Hungry. We were able to send a grant from donations raised to Anita Dimitrievska who pastors Ohrid Evangelical Church in North Macedonia. The church was then able to give out food parcels to twenty families in need. Each parcel contained a tract to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Supporting Harvest for the Hungry really helps our Christian partners serve people practically, but it also helps to demonstrate the love and care they have for those they walk with.

Fellowship of the Lord's People Church gave out 100 food parcels, using funds provided through Harvest for the Hungry.

Thank you for continuing to support Harvest for the Hungry. Every donation we have received has been a genuine blessing to people experiencing food poverty in the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

In Serbia, Novi Sad Christian Fellowship used funds received to support their work with people experiencing homelessness. Pastor Dusan Beredi wrote, 'We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the help you provided. It has brought a significant change to the lives of people on the margins of poverty in our city, and it has also helped our team grow in planning and service.'
