Winscombe joined thousands of communities yesterday, lighting Beacons across the world

- A beacon was lit by Archie Forbes Chair of Our Parish Council , at 9:15 pm, on The Millennium Green. The official Tribute for the 80th anniversary of D day was read.
Uniformed organisations paraded and presented their colours.
The event was very well supported with over 250 people from our community.

Admin of Winscombe, Sandford and Churchill business and what’s on, Please can you advise why you are not allowing/removing posts from St James’s fresh foundations project? The Church Centre is used by the whole community , for voting and giving blood etc? It is falling down and needs urgent solutions- The neighbours/ councillors/Parish Council are in support? Outline Planning Application was submitted in July, for the possibility of a replacement Church Centre. We await the decision of North Somerset Council by 14/9/23. Winscombe and Sandford Parish Council considered to application on 21/8/23 and voted unanimously in favour of approval.

The Dilemma
Do we extend, re-organise the space or start again?
We could only answer these questions with information.
We looked at other church projects including Cheddar Catholic Community Hall.
In answer to prayer a legacy was given and used to fund a feasibility study.

We consulted our neighbours and were encouraged with their responses. So we went ahead and applied for Outline Planning Permission on the Design Concept in July 2023. We expect feedback mid September. Meanwhile we are busy fundraising and looking for project volunteers.
