📢 One of our neighbours, St Mark’s C of E Primary School, is looking for a new Foundation Governor to join its governing board.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help support the school’s Christian ethos and play a part in shaping its future.

We’d particularly welcome applications from younger people, those from minority ethnic backgrounds, and anyone with an interest in finance.

For full details and how to apply, please see the poster 👆🏼

Yesterday during our Mother’s Day service at St George’s we took a moment to celebrate all the wonderful mums and mother figures in our community. Daffodils were given out during the service as a small gesture of thanks and appreciation.

Daffodils are one of the first flowers to appear in spring, and they’ve long been a symbol of new life, hope and fresh beginnings. After the grey days of winter, their bright yellow colour feels like a little burst of sunshine, a reminder of the warmth, care and nurturing that mothers and carers bring into our lives.

It was a really lovely moment in the service, and it was great to see so many people leaving with a daffodil and a smile.

At St George’s we’re proud to be part of the Kemptown community, a place where people come together, look out for one another, and celebrate life’s moments both big and small.

To all the mums, grandmothers, carers, and those who show motherly love in our community, we celebrate you. 💛

📘 New Booklets from St George’s: 'Where We Stand'
We’re pleased to share a new series of booklets from Fr Andrew, offering a Christian perspective on important and sometimes misunderstood issues. The first two booklets – 'Living Trans' and 'Welcoming Strangers' – are available in the church from today, Friday, March 6th.
Here is Fr Andrew’s letter introducing the project:
'Where We Stand'
Over the last few months life has become difficult in many ways. People have been asking me for a response to many issues from the Church’s point of view. In order for people to think about these issues and to have a Christian steer, we are now working on a series of booklets. These will cover issues from assisted su***de through to sexuality and many more. The series is entitled 'Where We Stand'.
So far the ideas and drafts have been welcomed by the diocese and other agencies.
The first two booklets will be given to members of the congregation and the community within the next two weeks. They are 'Living Trans' and 'Welcoming Strangers'. They deal with issues which have been raising much concern and which have been fuelled by misinformation. We have tried, in a non-confrontational way, to set down the facts as we understand them and to comment from a liberal Christian perspective.
More booklets are being prepared – let me know of any issues which concern you.
This is part of our mission and I hope it will enable you to enter into informed conversations with some help from St George’s.
Blessings
Fr Andrew
