St John the Evangelist, Preston, Brighton

St John the Evangelist, Preston, Brighton Welcome to St John's, Preston, Brighton! Sunday communion service at 10:00 a.m. Other activities as advertised here. What does that mean in plain English?

There is a Parish Eucharist on Sundays at 10:00, as well as a mid-week Eucharist on Wednesdays at 10:00. St John's is an Anglican (Church of England) Church, in the central to liberal Catholic tradition. It means that there are traditional services and prayers in modern English (all in an easy-to-follow booklet), and St John’s is part of the traditions of Anglicanism: forward-looking, people-focused, serving the community. St John’s has a friendly congregation, drawn largely from the local community. Some of those in the congregation may have been Christians all their lives, whilst others might prefer to call themselves honest doubters and people with questions. St John’s aims to be an inclusive church welcoming everyone, whatever their age, background, ethnicity, sexuality or relationship status. St John’s endeavours to provide thoughtful, accessible, high-quality public worship and scope to explore what a meaningful faith might look like today.

St John's will be open for Ride & Stride on Saturday 12 September.

We look forward to welcoming everyone taking part in this important fundraising event in support of the Sussex Historic Churches Trust, which provides vital grants to help maintain and preserve historic church buildings across Sussex.

While we don't expect church members to take part in the sponsored Ride & Stride event itself (although you're very welcome to do so!), our church garden will be open throughout the day, serving refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks and delicious homemade cakes.

Please come along and support this worthwhile cause. All proceeds from refreshments will be donated to the Ride & Stride appeal.

We're also grateful for donations of cakes. If you'd like to help, please speak to our churchwarden, Jane Millitt.

For more information about the Sussex Historic Churches Trust, visit their website. https://www.sussexhistoricchurchestrust.org.uk/

"Whether you're taking part in Ride & Stride or simply fancy tea and cake in the garden, we'd love to see you!"
