This Sunday, we take comfort in the words of Rev Laura Dobson, in her chalice lighting words 'Co-Weavers'.

We light our chalice, symbol of our free Unitarian faith
Sign of the spark of life in all living beings
Fire of commitment to love and justice
As the chalice cup embraces the flame
May we hold one another in loving community
Sharing our gratitude, our pain and our hopes for our world
For we are co-weavers of the story of the universe
A web of intimate connections and infinite possibilities

This Friday's lunchtime concert (5 June, 12.30pm) is given by The Kelleth Piano Trio - Rachel Ellis, Siriol Hugh-Jones & Stephen Carroll-Turner:

Beethoven's trio in C minor Op.1 no.3
Joan Trimble's Phantasy Trio

Rachel Ellis (violin) won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music where she studied with Jaroslav Vanecek for 5 years. On leaving college she worked briefly with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and played second violin in the Dove String Quartet. Rachel has taught at Christ’s Hospital School since 2004 and has led the Horsham Symphony Orchestra since 2008, performing several of the great romantic concertos with them. One of her greatest loves is playing chamber music, and she joined the Brighton Chamber Ensemble and Kelleth Piano Trio in 2015.

Siriol Hugh-Jones (cello) studied in Moscow with Prof. Igor Gavrysh and later Olga Galochkina. She was a member of Dartington Festival Orchestra for about 10 years. She co-founded both the Montpellier Cello Quartet (which recorded and toured with jazz singer Claire Martin) and the Kelleth Piano Trio as well as the Brighton Chamber Ensemble.

Stephen Carroll-Turner (piano) studied music at Edinburgh University. He subsequently worked for Bosendorfer Pianos as UK concert technician and now has a busy career as a piano technician and restorer, specialising in action redesign and optimisation. He performs regularly as accompanist and as a member of various chamber groups including the Brighton Chamber Ensemble and the Kelleth Piano Trio.

On Friday 5 June (12.30pm) we welcome back Sussex-based chamber ensemble the Kelleth Piano Trio: Rachel Ellis (violin), Siriol Hugh-Jones (cello), Stephen Carroll-Turner (piano) play the trio in C minor Op.1 no.3 by Beethoven, alongside a real rarity: the exceptionally beautiful Phantasy Trio by the 20th century Irish composer Joan Trimble.

The Kelleth Piano Trio was formed in 2015 by members of the Brighton Chamber Ensemble. They are passionate about rediscovering forgotten or neglected music, programming it alongside more familiar repertoire.

The name is taken from the tiny village in the Yorkshire Dales where they spent a memorable week of intensive rehearsal and hill walking. Suggested donation £5 - cash or card. Doors open at 12 noon with coffee/tea/biscuits available in the church hall.

In a change to our published programme for Fri 19 June (12.30pm), Alex Rider (harp) presents a programme which features two well-known French composers of the 20th century, Debussy and Caplet, with lesser-known but equally compelling music by their female contemporaries... Henriette Renié and Odette Montesquiou, who used their own instrument, the harp, to express their unique musical voices.
