Dear all

We join together in great sadness with many across the nation and around the world in mourning our Queen and Defender of the Faith. We are reminded that she leaves behind a grieving family for whom we pray. We also pray that God may bless King Charles in all the responsibilities that now come to rest on him. We commend Her Majesty to her heavenly Father - may she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Churches with bells have been asked to ring them at noon tomorrow. St Martin's will therefore be rung and the church open from 12 to 1pm for prayer and reflection. The bell-ringers will also ring in the early evening.

The Church of England has sent a special liturgy for Holy Communion during the Period of Mourning which will be used this Sunday. The services will be at their usual time of 9am St John's Clifton and 10.45am St Martin's Brighouse.

The music, readings and prayers will be changed and will be sent to those affected as soon as possible. Any further information will be sent as soon as it is available.

I would encourage you to share this information regarding services as widely as possible to any whatsapp or facebook groups etc to which you belong as there may be some who may wish to join one of these acts of worship as we remember Her Majesty together.

If you have any questions or suggestions please call or email me

Many blessings

After much thought and discussion we have concluded that, no matter what rules or guidelines government may issue over the coming weeks, it is not practical for us to hold a live Festival in 2021.
The Charity Jigsaw Festival is a large indoor event, the success of which is dependent on social interaction, the availability of around fifty volunteers, including several key people and a significant local publicity campaign.
The risks associated with a possible late cancellation or a requirement for premature closure due to a volunteer or a visitor reporting Covid infection are simply not worth taking.
Since its launch in early September 2020 the online shop jigsaws@brighouse has sold over 1,400 jigsaws and raised over £15,000 for our nominated charities. It has also been a lifeline for the housebound, those advised to shield for medical reasons and those who were reluctant to leave their homes during the height of the pandemic.
We plan to continue operating the shop for as long as we have the volunteers to manage the operation and make deliveries and shipments.
If you'd like to know how to help and support the online Festival, please email [email protected]

Puzzled about ways to stay occupied during lockdown? If so, look no further than our amazing collection of new and pre-owned jigsaws.

This year's Brighouse Charity Jigsaw Festival has taken all of its wares online at https://brighouse.org.uk/jigsaws/ where you'll find an outstanding collection of jigsaws for sale, without the need to queue, social distance, or wear a face mask.

Our volunteer courier will deliver by arrangement to HD6 and adjacent postcodes, and we will ship to the rest of the UK by Royal Mail or courier. We deliver/ship as soon as is practical but not less than once each week.

Proceeds from the sale continue to support Yorkshire Children's Trust, Together for Looked After Children, The Turning Point and St Martin's Mission to Children.
