🌟 Luton Family Day – Sunday 27th September 🌟

Families are invited to join us for a Family Day, run by Sion Community and Mission Northampton.

📍 Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Parish Centre
33 Westbourne Road, Luton, LU4 8JD

We’ll begin at 2.15pm with tea and coffee, followed by Mass at 3.00pm. After a short break with refreshments, there will be a session for adults, with separate streams for the children. We’ll finish around 5.30pm.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A relaxed afternoon for families to come together, worship, learn and grow in faith.

There is no charge for the Family Day, although we ask for a donation while you are with us.

Meet Joshua 👋

What can Joshua teach us about courage?

Joshua had a huge task ahead of him. He was called to lead God's people into the Promised Land — but he didn't have to do it alone.

God told Joshua to be strong and courageous, because God would be with him.

At this year's D Weekend, we'll be exploring Joshua's story and discovering what it means for us today.

How do we trust God when we're nervous?
How do we find courage when something feels difficult?
How do we follow Jesus when we're not sure what lies ahead?

Alongside the talks and worship, there'll be adventure, activities, games, friendship and plenty of fun!

D-Weekend is a residential event for young people in school years 7–9, all about discovering what it means to follow Jesus with courage and trust that God is with us every step of the way.

Through inspiring talks, powerful worship, exciting activities, and time with friends, you’ll explore the story of Joshua and how God called him to lead His people into the Promised Land. Together, we’ll discover how Joshua’s story can inspire us to trust God and live courageously in our everyday lives.

Fr Rastislav Krempasky spent a year as part of Sion Community’s Youth Ministry team 2018-2019. On 27 June 2025, he was ordained priest by Pope Leo XVI. On 29 June this year, Sion Community leader Fr Gareth Leyshon visited Fr Rastislav’s parish to preach at a Mass for his first anniversary.

Today, 15 June, Mgr Pat Lynch (founder of Sion Community and later its sister Community in Ireland, Céilí) celebrated his 51st anniversary of priesthood. Current leader of Sion Community, Fr Gareth Leyshon, was present in Kilbeggan and presented him with a gift commissioned following his golden jubilee. Seated is the current leader of Céilí, Fr Enobong Udoidiong.

We have received sad news this week, from our sister community in Ireland, Ceili:

Sr Ena Devlin, one of Ceili’s founding members died on Wednesday. She will be buried, after Requiem Mass, in her native parish of Drumragh, outside Omagh in Co. Tyrone on Saturday morning at 12 noon.

Please do keep Sr Ena, the Loreto Sisters, her blood family and Ceili Community in your prayers. May she rest in peace.
