Friends of All Saints, East Horndon

Friends of All Saints, East Horndon In it's prominent position, overlooking the A127 by the Halfway House public house, it commands compelling views across the Thames Gateway.

The Friends of All Saints care for this lovely Tudor church in a prominent position at the A128 / A127 junction - near the Halfway House restaurant, and is owned and maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust, with the Friends organising open days etc. Although retired from active Church of England service since 1970, and having suffered at the hands of thieves and vandals, All Saints is a much

loved and much cared for church. In its redundancy years, the church has frequently been used for many musical events, due to it's outstanding acoustics, and for open days and tea parties.

We need cakes for the open day at All Saints East Horndon on Saturday pleeeaaaase...

Anyone feeling bakety and could bake a cake for me? Or muffins, or cupcakes, or flapjacks or brownies or anything?

Gluten free or vegan would also go down well.

Drop off either at mine the day before or even better at the church itself, I'll be in there setting up from about 11am, open day is from 12-3.

Please please please x100

Thank you in advance, Astrid!

Thank you to everyone who came to our gardening and open day today, what a wonderful day! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒž

Thank you to all the gardeners, the place looks amazing now! Many graves were cleared, some even were great-great-great-grandparents' graves of the volunteer. The grade 2 listed monument grave of the Freemans looks amazing again, rabbit holes were filled in, much grass was strimmed and cut and planting was done to make the entrance look amazing! ๐Ÿชฆ๐Ÿชฆ

We also had a visit by Geoff and Harriet from Thorndon park and the reptile and lizard volunteers who came and taught us how to survey for lizards and reptiles onsite: two lizards were spotted! ๐ŸฆŽ๐ŸฆŽ

Many cups of tea and coffee were made and drunk, and many cakes and sandwiches were made and devoured! Thank you to Irene for holding the fort, and to all the cake bakers. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿง๐Ÿฅž๐Ÿ‘

Also a big thank you to Blackmore Morris and Mr Walsh's Wonders for once again making the church come alive with dancing and music. Videos in comments. Sneak peak: we may have a concert soon of the folk music of Mr Walsh's Wonders to raise money for the ground works ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ

There is currently also a bat survey taking place and we're planning to have a bat evening soon, including a bat talk, seeing a bat up close, and hopefully watching bats fly in and out of the church. ๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฆ‡

And thank you if you visited and learned something about this gem on your doorstep, and for your donations! ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ’ฐ

Even the weather played along! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thank you all,
Astrid, Martyn, Fiona, Mags, Jon, Paul and Ricci
