THE bells at a Braintree church will be ringing out today as teams from around the region take part in a competition.

All 10 bells are now back in their seats. All wheels, clappers, stays and sliders have been fitted. Pulleys, ropes and final bits to be done in a few weeks time then the project will be complete.

Re-installation this was done in 2 days so a huge shout out to the team at Whites of Appleton and the volunteers who helped 😁 Super excited to soon be able to ring the newly refurbished set.

Yesterday we saw the safe return of our 10 refurbished bells from Whites of Appleton workshop. These will be installed back into the tower in April. We can't wait to be able to ring them again! 🔔

Back on the 13th October 2019 we rang the last 10 bell quarter peal on the bells before they left for refurbishment. Below is a short clip of the ringing

Some pictures from our visit to Whites Of Appleton to see the Braintree Bells.

In the pictures you can see the old braintree wheels and the new wheels and how they are made. You can see two bells that have been re-tuned (shiny rim). There is also a picture of the mini ring that we had a chance to ring on.

Bradley Hill is organising an outing to Whites of Appleton on 18th January to see Braintree’s bells in the workshop along with a ring at a couple of local towers.

The format of the day will consist of a coach from Braintree to Appleton. We will spend the morning at the workshop finished by a quick ring at Appleton. We will then travel to Cumnor where we will have lunch at a restaurant and ringers can enjoy a ring at Cumnor. The final ring of the day will be at North Hinksey before we return to Braintree early evening.

Information:
• Date – Saturday 18th January 2020
• Cost – £25 for a ringer, £20 for non ringer (plus lunch)
• Start – 07:00 to leave by 07:30 - Springwood Drive Car Park, Braintree (CM7 2GE)
• Finish – We are due to be back in Braintree at 18:30 - Springwood Drive Car Park, Braintree (CM7 2GE)
