🕌🔬 UC Irvine Researcher Reportedly Embraces Islam During Ramadan

Dr. Henry Klassen, an ophthalmology professor and stem-cell researcher at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), was reportedly seen reciting the Shahada during Ramadan in 2024. Circulating reports also claim that he chose the name Abdul Haqq after his reported conversion to Islam.

According to accounts circulating online, Klassen was deeply moved by the resilience and steadfastness of people in Gaza, which reportedly contributed to his interest in Islam.

One widely shared statement attributed to him says: “The Holy Quran couldn’t have been written by a human being.” However, this quotation has not been independently verified, so it should not be presented as a confirmed statement by Klassen.

UCI has documented Dr. Klassen’s academic work in ophthalmology, stem-cell research, and retinal regeneration, including research involving retinitis pigmentosa.

📌 Important: The reported conversion details and the attribution of the Quran quotation are based on circulating reports and have not been independently confirmed by UCI.
