Formation of Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam
Qibla Pir Sahib had started the propagation of Islam as soon as he had graced the British soil with his arrival. After purchasing a house in 1962, he became busy and engaged in the propagation of Islam and Sunnism. Within a few months, through contacts with like-minded people, the environment became conducive for organizing, and in May 1963, two years after his arrival in Britain, the organisational structure of Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam was formed. The founding meeting of the Jamiyat was held at the house of Mistry Khadim Hussain, 60 Lumb Lane, Bradford 8. Initially, the name of the Jamiyat was proposed as Anjuman Tabligh-ul-Islam, which was later changed to Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam.
Mistry Khadim Hussain lived at Tyson St, Bradford 1. This street is now part of Bradford Central Mosque. 60 Lumb Lane, Bradford 8 was also his home. There was a barber shop on the ground floor and the first floor was empty where the initial meetings of Jamiat Tabligh up Islam were held. The aims, objectives and rules and regulations of Jamiyat Tabligh ul Islam made it clear that its aim and purpose was to reform Muslims and invite non-Muslims to Islam. Its method of preaching would be in accordance with the beliefs of the Sunnis. In jurisprudence, the sayings of the great scholars of the Ahnaf and the spiritual orders of the Qadiri, Naqshbandi, Chishti and Suhrawardi orders would be considered authentic. For this, in addition to the establishment of mosques and madrasas, quality scholars would be invited to Britain to spread the message of Islam. The activities of Jamiyat Tabligh ul Islam began in a room in Qibla Pir Sahib’s house where education and training of young people and adults was also arranged. Along with his religious and religious services, Hazrat Pir Sahib also gained public acceptance for his literary writings and speeches, poetry and oratory, and the world benefited from him. It was here that the practice of offering Taraweeh prayers and Eid prayers in congregation in the holy month of Ramadan was started. A religious gathering was held on the first Sunday of every month to convey the Islamic message to the people.
For about three years, the center of Tabligh ul Islam activities was 18 Southfield Square, Bradford 8. Now, as space in the house began to run out, he decided to establish a formal mosque and told his colleagues that now we should buy a building and establish a mosque.
