✨✨ “God and His angels bless the Prophet. So, you who believe, bless him too and give him greetings of peace.” — Quran 33:56”

The companions (ṣaḥābah) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked him about the manner in which they should send blessings (ṣalawāt) upon him. In response, he taught them the Abrahamic Prayer, which we recite in our daily prayers (ṣalāh).

This is one way of sending blessings (ṣalawāt), and there are countless others. From the beginning of Islamic history, the scholars of Islam have composed innumerable formulae of sending blessings upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Some blessings highlight some of his unique virtues; others are used as a means of supplication (duʿā’) to God. 📿The simplest blessing which you can easily use for daily invocation (dhikr) is:

🤲🏽”Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim ʿalā sayyidinā Muḥammad wa ʿalā ālih!” (God: Bless and send peace upon our Master, Muhammad and his family!)

Patience (ṣabr) is the virtue of having grace in adversity, remaining content with the difficulties God has decreed. It is to persevere in obedience to God, and to silently endure the trials of life, without complaint or resentment.

As one sage put it, “Patience is to make no distinction between ease and adversity, in that in both, the heart of the servant of God is unperturbed.” “God has promised those of his servants that are patient that He will support them by granting them both the strength to endure—“God does not burden any soul with more than it can bear” (2:286)—and the relief of the burden: “So truly where there is hardship there is also ease; truly where there is hardship there is also ease” (94:5-6).”

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that every difficulty believers endure in this world with patience purifies them from sin and elevates them in rank before God. With this prophetic perspective, hardships become divine means by which God tests and refines us and through which we can gain nearness to Him.

An act of charity, Zakat al-Fitr, helps bring Ramadan to a close. The Festival of Completing the Fast (‘Id al-Fitr) is a day of joy and festivities, and is usually a time of visiting to share the occasion with relatives, community elders, and other loved ones. Typically, the community holds a large prayer service on the day of the Festival (‘Id), and everyone attends.

In these final hours of Ramadan, we pray all your acts of worship, charity, and supplications (du’a’) are accepted. 🤲🏽
